Wow! Especially as it's London too which means it will be slightly smaller.

Wishful thinking though that tickets won't sell really quickly, although I'm feeling a little burned after buying other tickets too far in advance now.

I did have a breeze by the Thistle website, but it appears the hotel must be completely put to one side for block rooms as the dates aren't accepting. It would have been nice to pre-book a room on the off-chance of getting tickets later. Starfury must still be the only organiser trying to arrange rooms themselves which must be very time consuming.

I'm a bit gutted really as after missing the guests at Fusion I'll be missing them at this one as it's also the same weekend as Collectormania 7 in Milton Keynes.

Also clashes with the new date for Hush.

I'm hoping to get to this one. I've got the time booked off work. Just need to save up for the tickets.

The Thistle Hotel Heathrow will be accepting room bookings from attendees of STARFURY: SERENITY for the weekend of that event from Monday 9th August 2004.

Rooms are available for the attendees at a rate of £59:50 B&B per night for a single room and £77 B&B per night for a twin or a double room from the nights of {edit}Dates should read Thursday 28th April to Monday 2nd May 2005.{/edit}

There is a charge of £5 per day for parking.

To book a room you will need to call The Thistle Hotel directly on 0208 759 2400 and ask for group reservations and quote Starfury Conventions. Please note that you should book by phone and not the internet, as that could result in you being put in the overflow hotel.

And remember, don't call until Monday!

Those of you attending THE WHITE ROOM who require a hotel room but have yet to book one should do so now as room availability is currently limited for the weekend of that event.

Alan is something of a rising star in Hollywood at the moment, with stand out performances in KNIGHTS TALE and DODGEBALL. His CGI enhanced performance at Sonny in I, ROBOT garnered much praise from the critics.

Seeing as it's Christmas I thought that I'd let you all know that Adam Baldwin has agreed to attend STARFURY: SERENITY, subject to his availability.

He currently has a new TV series, THE INSIDER. Provided he is given time off from filming then Adam will be joining us for the convention. If he is unable to get time off then we will replace him with another FIREFLY guest and use Adam for a different convention later in the year.

A couple of updates with a fan art competition at Serenity and the Fancy Dress event

Subject: Fan Art Competition At SERENITY

At STARFURY: SERENITY, there will be a Fan Art Competition, allowing attendees to showcase artwork related to the series.

Any art entered into this competition must be relevant in at least one of three areas:-
1. The artwork is based around FIREFLY / SERENITY
2. The artwork is based around one of the guests attending the convention
3. The artwork is Sci-Fi based

There will be three categories:-
1. Best Traditional Artwork. Entries in this category must be 2D art that is done using traditional methods, such as pencil, pen & ink, crayon, pastels, oils, water colours etc.
2. Best 3D Artwork. This would be a sculpture, diorama, model etc. that is three dimensional in form.
3. Best CGI Artwork. This would be an image created using a computer. It could be a photograph or image that has been manipulated, or an image created and generated using computer. Images in this category must be printed up. We won't have a computer there to display them.

Any artwork entered into the competition must be finished, and will be displayed as given to us (e.g. we won't be putting them in frames; you'd need to do that if you want it to be displayed that way).

We reserve the right to refuse to display any artwork that we deem to be offensive or liable to case offence.

You must be happy for the artwork to be displayed publicly. We cannot guarantee that all art will be displayed at all times; if the number of entries is greater than the space available then we will rotate the artwork on display throughout the day.

The convention will return all artwork at the end of the event, but cannot take responsibility if it is damaged or lost while on display.

The guests will act as the judges. Their decision will be final and prizes will be allocated accordingly.

Subject: Costume Competition At STARFURY: SERENITY

As is traditional at a STARFURY event, on the Saturday night of STARFURY: SERENITY we will be presenting a costume competition. If you have devised and created a fancy dress costume for the convention you are welcome to enter.

Though the event is FIREFLY / SERENITY / SCI-FI based, all entrants are welcome, provided the costume is not deemed as offensive or liable to cause offense.

There will be three categories:-
1. Best Costume.
2. Best Child Costume (entrant must be 14 or under)
3. Best Group Costume (for group entrants featuring 3 or more individuals)

The fancy dress competition will be judged by the guests, and prizes will be given accordingly. Their decision will be final.

Subject: Amazing Offer For All SERENITY Attendees

As many of you may have been reading on the internet, Universal have been conducting a series of test screenings of an advance print of SERENITY to gauge audience reaction to the film.

At 6:30pm on Tuesday 8th February, Universal will be showing SERENITY for the first time outside of the US at a cinema in central London.

It is not a complete version of the film. The music score has yet to be done, and the bulk of the special effects have yet to be completed. It may also undergo further re-edits or changes between now and the final release in September.

Chris Buchanan, the producer of SERENITY, and Michael Boretz, Joss Whedon's assistant, thought it would be cool to let British Browncoats have an incredible opportunity to see SERENITY a full 8 months prior to release!

They have kindly asked Universal to make a number of tickets
available exclusively to STARFURY to distribute to FIREFLY Fans.

So if you've booked to attend STARFURY: SERENITY, and you'll be able to get to central London by 6:30pm on Tuesday 8th February, you could end up seeing SERENITY!

If you are a ticket holder for STARFURY: SERENITY and whish to go to this screening, please e-mail me at SeanHarry@a... requesting tickets. Please let me know your ticket number for STARFURY: SERENITY (it'll be strictly one film ticket per attendee).
