From lovelorn Tim to would be regicide in Charles II to the accidental survivor of a galatic demolition job ... the guy gets around a bit don't he?
Hitchikers casting
Not sure if this is legit or not but i just read that they have cast the leads in the new film of Hitchhikers Guide.
Apparently Arthur is to be played by Martin Freeman, better known as Tim from The Office, and Ford is to be played by Bill Nighy from... well pretty much everything else of late.
I dont tend to put much stock in early rumors like this, but i think this is such an astute piece of casting, I wouldnt be surprised if its true

they would actually suit the characters rather well. tim has the sort of "erm where am i look" that arthur would have whilst bill nighy fits how i would picture ford. if the rest of the cast fit my ideas, it should be a good film
just looked at the BBC site and they've been talkin to bill nighy, apparently hes set to play slartibartfast, so whos he really playing. nothing against what wobag said

Ah well i guess the paper got it wrong.
Incidentally, they have Warwick 'R2D2' Davis tapped to play a diminutive version of Marvin!
It gets better and better!

R2D2 vs marvin? they are total opposites. R2 was always cheerful and wanted to do stuff. marvin, well....the 'paranoid' said it all.
i think it said they were trying t get stephen moore (original marvin voice) to do the voice of marvin again, but if they use a previous robot controller to controll him that would be interesting

Doh I didnt mean R2D2 that was Kenny Baker, Warwick Davies was Wicket in ROTJ and Wald in Phantom Menace.
No idea if hes doing the voice, I would guess not, so as to the character Marvin will project I wouldnt worry. Its just nice to have a link to another scifi epic

Im not worrying about marvins image. im just voicing opinions. Im pleased that they finally seem to be sorting the film version out.
It's been announced that Mos Def will now be playing Ford Prefect. Mos Def is an underground hip-hop artist from New York and has been in films such as Monster's Ball and The Italian Job (the new one).
I've read that too; how the hell is that one supposed to work?!

I think Rockwell will be fantastic in this role... He has enough zanyness to pull it off without feeling the need to entirely chew up the scenary. I'm gaining confidence in this movie now.
