London, England, 1348
The curse of the apocalypse is once again let loose on the civilised world, as civilised as it was in those days, this apocalypse goes under the guise of the black death, the bubonic plague. The ravenous beast has killed hundreds of thousands already and it is set to take more lives. Practisioners in the art of medicine have blamed vermin for spreading this awful disease, only those within the council know what may have caused this and they are not about to let their presance known to the world....

The disease that is taking the lives of these people is no more than another attempt to bring forth the apocalypse although I feel that time if of the essance if the Slayer is to stop this evil that approaches us from the north. I must be strong for her, even if we fight a losing battle we shall fight till we breath no more, for the sake of innocents we must stop these events before they worsen but how can I send her out to face a disease such as this when demonic activity is on the rise? They feed on the ill, the ones that have no chance of escape on the festering streets of this god forsaken city, I fear that time will not be an ally this time around.
As the quill of Thomas Moore struck the page below he wondered what his Slayer could be doing on a harsh cold winters night like tonight, the watchers eyes were strained with concern, could a Slayer fend off such a plague as strong as this one seems to be, could she find the source and thwart it or maybe the watchers council were wrong, maybe this disease is a message from god warning the human race that the slums they call cities are not intended for his Oasis here on earth. Thomas leaned back in his chair pondering on ways to help his Slayer through this time of need.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Her name was Evelyn or so she thought, her protector and Watcher Thomas Moore had decided to call her that when he rescued her from her abusive home, little did she know that she was destined for great things and now? now she was a lady of stature, dressed in fine garments, silks, a travelling shall so why was she wandering the slums of this plague infested city, men tried to stop her from entering the areas that bore the mark of 'The Black Death' but she had to see for herself that these people were safe from the vampire threat. Yes it had occured to her before... why should she save the doomed and then she spoke to herself softly on the breeze "Why not?", he smiled to herself as she hurried deeper into the slums of London town, the mud beneath her feet spoilt her satin lined shoes but she did not care she has a job to do and this job she knows is a perilous one...
Evelyn strode past houses marked with Red Crosses, rows and rows of them all covered in the blood red paint, how could this have happened, children locked in their homes with the dieing because they had become a 'Risk' to everyone else. This was wrong but now came the part she had been waiting for, as her emerald green eyes came up to survey the scene a smile came to her lips.
Two distinguished looking characters were huddled over a tiny child, the boy could have been no older than 9 yrs old but still he was small and frigtened, blood poured from a wound in his throat and from his wrist, these two were greedy and covered in blood, this was not their first victim of this night. "Evening Gentlemen" Evelyn whispered and bowed her head, she took tiny lady like steps towards her intended Slayee and slowly wrapped her hand around the lever to a wagon, curling them tightly before snapping the wooden lever free from its position.. the vampire to the right of the boy to a step back as she plunged the instrument into a stunned Vamps chest, reducing him to nothing more than ashes. The second vampire took off in a flash of light, he wasn't waiting around for this 'girl' of which he knew to be the slayer, to dust him, oh no he was going to live to fight another day.
Evelyn looked at the boy once and ushered him off into his home, a cold gesture to be sure but there was nothing else she could do... but usher him off to die from this disease. She left for home and as she passed her watcher on the way to her room she gave him a mild nod "g'night".

[i]The plague has reached us, Evelyn shows no signs of the disease but I, I must hide the infection from her for this very night while she was out saving innocents. I was making a pact with the devil himself, I am not ready to die in a manner such as this... I should live to my old age... to see more of the world. Evelyn has retired for the night, so now is the moment for my betrayal, if I go through with this vengeful deceit will I be able to live with myself... my concience? I must do this, it's time to start thinking of myself, I cannot afford such contraptions to keep this fateful disease away from my door... from my life. This will be my last entry in this journal for after this night I shall be damned, damned but alive, alive to walk this plain for all eternity.
With the last brush of the quill he closed the journal, fastening it securely and placing it under a floorboard near the roaring fire... his eyes were filled with doubt after all Thomas Moore was raised to do this job and to betray his Slayer and the Watchers Council, this was an almost blasphemous act but what care the council for one young watcher when there are so many standing in line to take his place. With that final thought he picked up a knife from the table beside him, just one of the many weapons lieing around the home of the watcher and his slayer, Thomas approached Evelyns room and slowly twisted the knob, the door gave way with a protesting groan as the hinges rolled to one side letting Thomas see his slayer, sat infront of the mirror brushing her hair, counting each brush stroke in a majestic manner "There were two tonight.." she smiled "...I only managed to thwart one thought, I think I'm getting better don't you?" she smiled as she surveyed Thomas' reflection in the mirror, still counting the strokes of the brush as the Silent watcher took a step closer, he feared that if he spoke he would tell her of the brutal blasphemous act he was about to commit.. so he took another three steps closer almost upon her, the blade hidden securely behind his back. Evelyn noticed the composure of her watcher was not as dignified as it was before she left on the patrol "is somthing the matter? Did I do somthing wrong" she questioned, concerned that she may have upset him...
There was no turning back now, he had to do this... he was becoming weaker by the day but he hid it successfully, the plague was claiming two hundered lives a day, there was no way he or the slayer could figure out the cause of this apocalyptic bug in time to save the world so he would save himself and with that... the blade appeared from behind his back in a flash the flashing metal glided across the young girls throat, her eyes wide as the blood began to pour from the wound, a tear fell from both the watcher and the slayer as she fell from her chair, the floor boards beneath her rumbling as her body convulsed and the last breath left her body... another would be called but now Thomas need not fear death... he left the scene of the crime and waited downstairs.
The crackle from the hearth was the only sound that filled the room as Thomas Moore took to his chair for respite, it's best to think of other things... do not let the image of the blade sweeping across the tender flesh worry you now... with that thought came a knock on the door, Thomas tried to utter an invitation but his voice box failed him at first, the wrapping at the door became louder almost deafening as the Watchers Senses deceived him "Come In" he finally managed to murmer... with those words the doors opened and a tall robed figure stood in the doorway, some would say it was saten himself, the cool white flesh luminecant in the dark night... it was 'The Master'... Thomas smiled brightly now, god may have forsaken the human race but this demon, this messanger of satan had not and now he stepped towards his destiny... to serve his new lord as one of those he had taught Evelyn to destroy.
