I used to watch V and have the whole series on vid I loved it, was one of those "I must not miss any of it" programs
Independance Day + V = Shocking
Well I bought 'V The Mini Series' on DVD because I haven't seen it in ages and it is a classic Sci-Fi Drama but while watching the first 40 mins I noticed shocking similarities between this and Independance Day... The way the ships positioned themselves over the main cities on the planet etc etc... of course all ID lacked was the Aliens that looked human and were Multilingual, that also resembeled the nazis etc etc... That Series has so many undertones...
Haven't seen ID in a while but I thought this is so like that... were the scenes lifted? Ideas?
If you ain't seen V yet.. Buy it.. >Buy it now!!!!

I Have to say it's one of the only things my dad and I did together religiously... every night it was gone, 5 mins early in front of the TV and ohhhh that show, it's just a classic and I recommend it to anyone who loves Sci-Fi.

Although the Nazi undertone is so obvious, wonder how it slipped through the net...
Didn't think it *did* slip through the 'net'. Thet even had the Vistor Youth who were encouraged to shop their oen friends and family to the aliens, the idea of the resistence and a fifth column

Yes, I was another V fan although it was spoilt, slightly, by the second series. Might be tempted to buy it on DVD if I ever get enough money to do so
Someone once told me that I look like the bird from V, but i've never seen it to find out if this is true or not.
Anyone got a picture so i can find out for myself?

Cheers Sange!
Well i don't look like any of them as far as i can tell so obviously someone needs glasses!

V was the first scifi show I watched and thoroughly enjoyed it. The whole concept of aliens living amongst you and the like
Although I thought Donovan was a bit smarmy ... I prefered the personalities of some of the aliens myself. My mum had a crush on Michael Ironside though so we ended up watching it together.
Hadn't really thought of the similarities with ID before, but I guess the profile of *aliens* are built up and expanded on from many different shows and films (ie being grey with big eyes etc) so similarities are bound to appear over the years.
As for underlying tones - I never think that deeply into scifi stuff normally

I loved this show.
Remember seeing that scene where you see Diana eat the guinea pig by stretching her mouth - scared the crud out of me
And yes, the second season did lose the plot a bit - Star Child, please!
Anyone remember an younger Robert Englund as Willy - pre-Elm Street?
Good series, good story, great TV show - one of the classics.
