People hear weston, they think John Wayne.
Fame and Time
Okay, I was talking about this topic today: 'How Long Fame Lasts'. Will Tom Cruise's fame last well after he's dead? Thinking of how many actors have been around over three decades, the list is few and far between.
I was thinking of famous people from before the sixties, who people would still know today. One that came to mind was Humprey Bogart, why? Casablanca! Basically what do you guys think of fame's longivity (is that a worduzzled. How do you stay famous? Would securing your place is a franchise (Bond/Star Wars) be the answer, so for many years people will know what you're in. What films will be around in say forty years? Will Casablanca still be watched? Personally, I think American Beauty will be a film that soon decends into the forgotten archives, don't know why? Also, does the fact more people have tv's and the money to see films than they did fifty years ago effect how long fame will last for?
Take 'Friends'. Will they still be famous in many years? The people from 'Cheers' were the thing at their time, but can anyone name the actor who played 'Chief' or 'Norm'? I can't (and do't look it up, little cheats)
I know this is a lot of ideas at once, but I'd like to discuss this, but my thoughts are a bit jubbled, sorry

i think if you said 'Jack Nicolson' to the general public, they would say 'Joker' back.
I wouldn't, I'd completely forgotten that he played Joker, my first thought of jack Nicholson is his character in The Shining.
Mind you I just asked Graham what character springs to mind when I say Jack Nicholson, and he said Joker...
