I'm really looking forward to this film and had not heard much about it until I looked at the page Stoo mentions above. Sounds good (I'll have forgotten all the spoilers I read by the time I see it!), although it's a shame that this will be the last outing for the Next Generation crew. Nemesis focuses on Picard and Data though, which can only be a good thing as they are the most interesting characters

Thanks for the page, but janeway becoming an admiral before Picard, she's bad as a captain so I'll bet she sucks bad style as a Admiral.

P.S I would have thought it was obvious that it was a spoilers/rumours thread since Nemesis isn't released until 13/12/02

Well, you can talk about a film without giving the plot away, but seeing as that page contains a link the the whole script, I thought it needed the extra warning Better to be safe than sorry

Anyone else notice that in the poster for Nemesis the guy is holding the Jackal Knife once weilded by Faith?
Ok not THE actual one but its a jackal knife, kinda threw me off the film, dunno why.

Has anyone actually seen this yet? Just got back from seeing it tonight.

I wasn't totally disappointed with it, but it wasn't as good as say, First Contact, definitely the best TNG film. Mind you I had just watched FC a few days prior to watching Nemesis, so I had high hopes.

In some ways it smacked of trying to be more of an action flick, there were definitely hints of Star Wars in there as well as a scene reminded both Graham and I of Independence Day. This is only a bad thing as it detracts from what Star Trek is all about. They've got a big enough fan base already, is it worth hacking them off by taking a totally different slant just to attract a broader audience?

The sets/models were stunning, I must add. The scene where we first see the Romulan embassy (can't recall it's proper name, lol) and later the Remus dilithium mines are fantastically done. The Enterprise looks beautiful (I actually thought it was a new ship, must have been in the garage for an upgrade ) and the Remus Scimitar is amazing, it's kind of like an insect towards the end (won't tell the scene as that'd be naughty but, you'll know what I mean)

It's just a shame they got the director of a lot of dire action movies to direct what could have been a great film, lets hope they get back on track for the next one.

All in all, do go and see it, it's not terrible, but don't expect the earth from it.

I found it silly, but hugely enjoyable, and never mind the scimitar; what about those new Romulan Warbirds? I don't think Star Trek has ever <i>looked</i> better.

And yet...

I think you're right, misskittyfantastic, that in some ways this didn't quite feel like a Star Trek film. Moreover, when it did feel like Star Trek, it definitely felt like a TOS movie, rather than a TNG one. Jean-Luc Picard, boy racer; what's up with that?

Oh, and the Remans just look way too much like the Turok-Han in Buffy - with a little borrowing from the Hellraiser Cenobite workwear catalogue - for me to take them entirely seriously. And when the Reman boarding party came on board, why didn't they pass out raybans and crank up the lights?

Oh, and Shinzon now has to go alongside the Borg Queen on the list of 'bad guys who lost because they had to try and get their rocks off instead of just doing the kill you thing'. The film also had in common with First Contact that it threatened to screw up a perfectly serviceable group of villains, but unlike First Contact and the Borg, the Romulans at least emerged with some little dignity remaining.

But basically, I enjoyed it.

Ive seen it. It wasnt great but, but I didnt feel it was that bad, But they put the android together and no one mentioned Lore (are they insane lets put together the android after the last one was a pyscho).

Yeah, but Lore was psycho as he had emotions and couldn't handle them, thus turned evil. It's pure guess work but maybe they checked B4 out first and saw no emotion chip, thus eliminating possible evilness??

The film was kind of cool, and yes the Enterprise had had a major refit for it, the only problem with it was that instead of having the E being rebuilt at the end of the film they should have had a shot of the hypothetical F with it being the last TNG film it would have been a nice ending. Also what's with Janeway giving Picard orders, and finally if Janeway is back then how come the E doesn't have abladive armour and treansphasic torpedoes, you know the ones that blow up a borg cube with a single hit, artistic licensing I suppose, I mean scimitar attacks, scimitar gets blown up, earl grey gets drunk probably wouldn't make that greta a film (just to use it)

The transphasic torpedoes probably breach some treaty or other, so the Federation don't use 'em. That's why the Enterprise doesn't have a phased cloaking device and all the other good stuff they've developed through the series. Even if they had 'em, the Scimitar would have just had a countermeasure, so it's just a needless complication.

Teh Sovereign-class Enterprise may well have had ablative armour - since it was first employed on the Defiant, it almost certainly does - but since that's just bits of hull that get blown off before you get to the voonerables, against a half-ton of disruptor fire, it quickly becomes pretty academic.

Janeway is giving Picard orders because she's an admiral and he's a captain, for whatever reason. Possibly because she ended the threat of the Borg Queen, while Picard just taught the Borg to be angry teenagers.

It's also just simpler if you don't have to explain these things to people not in on the mythology. Like the quantum torpedoes that were fired, but not named.

Hmmm. I think what Havoc's trying to say "what the heck is Janeway doing an admiral when Picard's just a captain??", 'cos Picard (and the TNG crew) saved the <Federation/Galaxy/Earth/adso-bleedin'-lutely everything> (delete as appropriate) how many times? And he's still just a captain. Unlike Kirk, who became an admiral for doing (what seemed to be) not nearly quite as much.

Well, I admit I haven't seen Endgame, but I'm prepared now to go out on a limb and suggest that the Sovereign class Enterprise is less boss than Voyager in that because 'Endgame' is a deeply, deeply stupid episode, at the end of a deeply, deeply stupid season of a deeply, deeply stupid series, which completed First Contact's destruction of everything that was cool and menacing about the Borg.

"We are Borg. We will, oh, I dunno, kill you and stuff. We're like bees you know; only crappier. Did we mention we're objectively evil now? Bleah-leh-leh-leh! Eeeevil!"

"Oh, we just blow. Y'know; everyone used to be so scared of us. It's all Hugh's fault really; no-one takes us seriously anymore."

"And it's seventh of nine, dag nabbit."

Let's face it; by the end of Voyager, the Borg were about as scary as the Hirogen.
