Film wasn't bad, but not exactly an amazing ride. A good old fashioned romance, but that was all it was. Oh well, another one down... some 400 hundred to go
Life Purpose Discovered!
I've found recently, a list, composed by film critics, actors, directors, producers, from all over the world, which took about 2 years to make. It is the 500 Greatest Movies You Must See In Your Life Time. It was the Holy Grail for me, someone who loves movies.
So I cut and pasted to my computer and went through, highlighting in red films I'd seen. Balls! I'd not see that many in all fairness, about 50 of them I'd seen. So now, determined to prove that I am the greatest, I'm attempting to see all the movies on the list.
Starting today, with 'Roman Holiday' at 9:00 on Sky Cinema

If not, go to yahoo and enter "500 desert island movies' and the top of the list is the one. According to this it is the 144 greatest movies. Oops
Hope that helps.

This is actually really interesting, and they (whoever they are) have certainly put a lot of work into compiling it. But personally I don't think I'll be paying it much attention.
It's based on the opinions of critics, award ceremony type people and the imdb-using population at large. A fair spread yes, but I don't really trust any of them.
1) "Regard all art critics as useless and dangerous" - Manifesto of the Futurists. And I hold this true for film critics as well.
2) We all know that the Oscars are rigged. By the Stonecutters if no-one else.
3) People are clever, the public at large is stupid.
But this is just my opinion. I'll go and crawl under a rock now.

Oh I totally agree that many of the films are not really 'great', but I still would at least like to know what the critics think are 'great' movies before I pander them
