I went to see the first with someone special so this year I went in memory and for ELC (she brought the tickets) Im not a Harry Potter "fan" I havent read the books an don't go nuts for the films and/or mechandise so I don't know the villian of these stories til i saw chamber of secrets I enjoyed it despite being surrounded by constantly nattering kids (that i wanted to throw down the stairs but then it was HP and it was to be expected so they got away lightly ) I enjoyed it for what it was an Kenneth Brannagh (who i am a closet fan of) was the BEST he can play slimey and smirky (no thats not the word.....come on what am i thinking of?) SMARMY perfectly I couldnt stop giggling when he was about especially the scene where he's taking a class and his portrait in the backgroud and being smarmy too I think ELC thought i was on giggle overload.
It was sad watching it though knowing that there will be no more Dumbledor (sp?) he was sooo good.

so other then the villian cop-out which all booking reading HP fans already know, I liked it.

(apologises if i babbled i tendto do that like this one time where i was.... )

I thought it was very cool. Kenneth Brannagh was very good, though in my mind he wasn't vain and smug enough to be Lockhart.

The films can never be as good as the books, but they're making a very good attempt.

The Rumour is that is going to be Christopher Lee.

Okay so I saw Harry Potter last week and have been chatting too people at work about it. Personaly I have been disappointed by the films. They have to explain the plot too much and in such a blatant way that it so detracts from the film. It makes it all quite cheesy.

It is a shame as the books are so good. What do you think ? should they have been left as books or did they do it right

35! Looked it up...and here I was thinking it was strange that 30 year old actors played the kids in Buffy!

I saw it last night, and thought it was really cool, even though I was kinda sleepy. The quidditch match was greatly improved upon from the last film, and the acting was quite good, again.
The only thing was, when I read it, it was quite scary, where as the film was not really scary at all

Just seen this today. I liked it better than the first one until the ending. I don't remember it being so bad in the book. I thought that Daniel Radcliffe was a much better actor this film. He really annoyed me in the Philosophers stone at times. Kenneth Branagh was excellent! I thought he was a perfect Lockhart.
Like the first one though, it wasn't as good as the book.

Went to see Chamber of Secrets last night (cos Die another Day was sold out).
Well, I wasn't too keen on the first film, but I'm glad to say this film is a vast improvement!
The vfx are much better, lots of nice swooping establishing shots, then quiddich match was as it should be i.e more like the speeder bike chase from Return of the Jedi.

It aint perfect though. The kids all look great, but few of them can act, and I was surprised that the main trio lacked any of the chemistry that came accross in the first movie - They just seemed to bark their lines at each other in every scene.
The big action sequence at the end was lacking a bit, mostly because Harry Potter isn't an action hero.
The ending was as atrocious as my spelling, really, what was that last scene all about? I'm gonna have to re-read the last chapter of the book, but it was entirely out of character for almost everyone!

The Dumbledore phoenix scene was unintentionally poingnent given that it must have been one of Richard Harris last scenes, but I've never really been too impressed with the Dumbledore character, I mean, he's supposed to be one of the greatest wizards around, but I never really felt that from any of his performance.

Oh, and I'm one of the sad ones that stay till the end of the credits, and I was rewarded with a wee extra bit of footage which was pretty funny.

So if you go see it - STAY TILL THE END

We saw it last Saturday night.. totally enjoyed it. A big improvement on Philosopher's Stone. It was a lot darker than the first one, and the scenes with the spiders (specially the last one and the car) made me jump a foot in the air!!!.

What annoyed me was how many young ones (and i mean young, the couple next to me brought their son who couldn't have been much more than five years old) were there. Personally i thought the content of the film to be too dark for a child under seven or eight years of age.

poo! i knew i shouldve stayed but after 2+ hours of kids chattering and not being able to concerntrate completely i just wanted out of there otherwise yes i am also one of those sad people that stay to the end.

Its official I am an Harry Potter addict. I dragged EW to see it again the other day and we did indeed stay to the end CJL

This time we sat infront of the only kid in the cinema who was talking...not amused. It really has captured me, I was all tingly when the music started at the beginning and yes I did giggle and grin lots through it all, mostly at Oliver scenes...I cant help it I love his accent and he's a sweetie.

It took me a while to warm to Dobby as he's not how I pictured him in the books. However I was in tears at the end when Dobby was all misty eyed..bless

As for the scene with Hagrid, i'm a little confused as i've read all the books and the only people that really like Hagrid are Harry, Hermoine and Ron with the exception of a few other Gryffindors.

I loved Jason Issacs as Lucius Malfoy, him and his son Draco work well together

I dont see Christopher Lee as Dumbledore, Richard Harris was everything I pictured him to be from the books, and i'm more used to seeing Christopher Lee being evil. If anyone my only suggestion would be for Ian McKellan, as JK has this thing about the main characters being British.

And you know who i think might be a good Dumbledore?.. Bernard Hill.. (he was the inventor-type fellow in The Scorpion King, as well as being in Boys From The Blackstuff) He had a beard and all, and i thought perhaps he would make a good Dumbledore.. Ian McKellan would be good too.

My idea for Sirius Black... I think his name is Peter Gallagher.. he's a bald guy who was in Casualty yonks ago as the hospital manager (I think). He looks suitable menacing

I agree that Ewan would be a great Lupin. Me and some mates had a discussion about this when the last film was out. It's actually difficult to think of British actors who suit the parts. we never thought about Ewan. I think we decided on Andrew Lincoln.
I'm not too sure about Robert Carlyle for Black though. He's not how i picture the character. I think someone like Jeremy Sheffield, who was Alex Adams in Holby City. The Kane Dingle guy could maybe pull it off.

Robert has lots of different looks and can change so easily. He was scary looking in Ravenous and had the Siris look in Plunkett and MacLean with the hair. That Kane Dingle guy has the hair but thats about it. I dont know the guy you mean in Holby city as I dont watch it.
