Saw it last night. Bloody hell!

Bryan Singer (and everyone else too, mind! ) = Inspired Genius!

Don't want to talk about it in depth without revealing loadsa juicy (but evil) spoilers, so I'll spare those unfortunate souls who haven't seen it yet. A few words of wisdom to those poor, poor people: watch it. NOW! What the hell are you doing on T21? Get your hides to the cinema!

Way to abuse your powers, Xavier. *That* would never have happened in the comics, but I guess you have to make these things more flash for movies. Still, I approve heartily.

Magneto's escape was great too. The old men were stealing the show.

Infiltration of the mansion was suitably tense.

Regards the last few minutes - surely everyone's seen what it implies is coming? Certainly hope the movie gives it a new twist.

Much better than the first movie. Main plot was less silly, music was less melodramatic... and I'm running out of ways to avoid using the adjective 'cool' repeatedly. I'm such a geek...

Much, much better than the first one, where the fact that it was cobbled together from several different scripts rather showed. This was much more solid. It's kind of interesting watching from the perspective of never having read the comics or seen the cartoon. I kept having to ask precisely what peoples powers were supposed to be.

The only bit I really didn't like was the scene with the jet being chased by two F-16s. It was silly in many ways, but that they could force both of them to eject, and the military don't follow up on it at all, stretched my suspension of disbelief somewhat..

Magnetos escape was brilliant, although I was somewhat surprised by the level of violence in the film considering it was a 12A. Cartoon violence, maybe, but how many soldiers did Wolverine kill?

And since I really can't think of all that much else to say, I will finish with.. Mmmmmm Rogue.

Loved it too. I especially loved the way it was stuffed full of little touches for long-term fanboys like me but in a way which wouldn't leave mundanes lost.

Magneto was magnificent. I want to be him when I grow up!

Only thing I'd complain about is I felt Cyclops was a bit shortchanged for screen time but then, Cyke's been a long term fave of mine.

So, who else thought "Bryan Singer, you cad/bounder/other perjorative term not usable here!"?

Oh, seeing it with a bunch of slashers made it an interesting experience. Could probably have done without the in-depth discussion of Wolvie/Cyke possibilities... Had to threaten to make Heather and Selena walk back to the Norbreck to get them to quit it!

Certainly beetter than the first, and definately fun, but didn't quite feel as tight as it should have been; a little too deus ex machinery at times.

Anna Paquin is utterly delectable, Mystique was great, and fabulous to see Nightcrawler.

The big spoilery thing that happens at the end was a bit :shrug: because it's a hollywood blockbusty easily-sequalable film so you know they wouldn't, quite possibly couldn't, do what you think they've done, so even before the very end you know there's a kicker somewhere (how's that for vague).

Wow!!.. i loved this film!. It was much better than the first installment

And Wolverine *growl* Delving into his past history a bit more was fascinating, seeing more berserker rage and yeah, he killed a lot of soldiers in the X-Mansion didn't he?. Loved the fight between him and Lady Deathstrike (who wasn't used nearly enough i thought), it was so fast at times i couldn't keep up.

Nightcrawler was a huge hit with me too, and the scene with him and Rogue was just too cool for words, i was majorly impressed.

Want to see more!

Bah. Humbug. Still, I do occasionally find it amusing that my two favourite characters are Cyclops and Magneto...

I'm just back from seeing this and WOW was it good. Loved seeing some of the characters from the cartoons like Colossus and I thought the whole thing was great. Story was cool and Rogue MMmmm. I caught the little touch at the end and the two people I went with were wondering why I was bouncing on my seat so I had to tell them hehe...cool film.

So, what do we want in the next one? Me, I want Sentinels!

Well that was a tad disappointing.

Overly long given the lack of plot, it also looked relatively cheap in the blockbuster stakes (a little too much time spent running down identical tunnels/corridors and talking in confined locations).

The dialogue had none of the spark of the first movie ("How do we know you're the real Wolverine?" ) and good characters (Stryker and Yuriko for example) were thrown away.

It seemed both very po-faced and simultaneously rather silly requiring large leaps of faith and for the audience to stop asking questions.

It also seemed like every other line was intended to explain to the audience what was going on ("As you know Wolverine, you have to keep adamantium liquid etc etc" )

All in all, I thought it was no better than average and a distinct let down after the first movie.

Oh yes... and chicks flying jets... yeah right, like that'll happen. Sometimes willing suspension of disbelief can be stretched too far.

Sentinels would be really cool, in a way I'd like to see them use some of the cartoon storys and have either Mr Sinister or the big roboty looking bad guy who created the Horsemen Of The Apocalypse (can't believe I can't remember his name ) or even a mixture of some of the better cartoon storys...wondering what they're going to do with that 'flaming bird' now though..

I think you'll find that there really wasn't much in the cartoons that didn't originate in the comic books, including both Sinister (originally in the Mutant Massacre storyline) and Apocalypse (originally in the early issues of X-Factor).

What the cartoon did do very well was strip down and rationalise an awful lot of history and associated baggage into a form which would fit into a 25 minute Saturday morning cartoon episode which is similar to what the films seem to have managed too.

Ming - Haven't read any of the comics although I've read some of the fan sites on the net to get some background but i liked the cartoons and still watch on Fox Kids now and then.
