Movie News - Week 20th
A variety of news this week, mainly casting news and the like.
Elektric
Fox have found a director for the Daredevil followup, Elektra. His name is Rob Bowman, and he directed the X-Files movie and Reign of Fire. I havenÂ’t seen either one, so IÂ’m not sure whether that should inspire confidence or fear.
They are reportedly rushing the film into production, which isnÂ’t good, but itÂ’s necessary if they want to make it, because they need to film it in Jennifer GarnerÂ’s break from Alias.
God comes to Gotham
Morgan Freeman has been confirmed as playing the part of Wayne Enterprises CEO Lucius Fox in the upcoming film Batman film. HeÂ’d been rumoured for ages, but now itÂ’s definite. Another great actor for the reborn franchise.
Sex & the Cinema
If you are mourning the end of the raunchy comedy Sex & the City, weep no more. Series writers, directors and producers are already working on the script for a feature film and are negotiating deals for the quartet that make up the main cast.
No dates as yet, but you can be fairly confident they wonÂ’t take too much time over it, theyÂ’ll want to capitalise on the shows popularity before it falls out of the public consciousness.
Jay & Silent Kato
Kevin Smith has been selected to write and direct a film based on the comic book The Green Hornet. Smith (Clerks, Dogma) is a self-confessed comics freak, and has written on several different comics, so he certainly has experience in the area.
