I watched it a little while back and enjoyed it. I had fun watching the scenes on Melrose/Sunset and saying "I've been in that store"

Thirteen
So has anyone seen this? I watched it on DVD last night and have to say I was impressed.
'Thirteen' is the story of Tracie Freeland, a thirteen year old girl from a broken home who's had a difficult upbringing. Her father has little to do with her or her brother and her mother is a recovering alcoholic who's new relationship with a recovering drug addict causes yet more angst for Tracie.
The first day back at school Tracie notices the attention that Evie Zamora is getting. She's the most popular girl in school and Tracie admires that. She manages to become friends with Evie thanks to some petty theft which leads onto Evie taking Tracie into a world of drugs, drink and sex. The change is Tracie is highlighted best when her best friend from the start of the film sits down to talk to Tracie and Evie near the middle of the film. It's amazing to think that these girls are doing these things at their age, more so when you realise that this actually happens in society today.
The performances by Evan Rachel Wood and Holly Hunter are brilliant. Nikki Reed, who plays Evie Zamora, co-wrote the film basing it on the rebellious experiences she had at 13 years old. The filming style is also good as it feels as though it's been done on a hand-held camera..as such it feels more like a documentary than a film. If you haven't seen it then I'd advise you to give it a look...you won't be disappointed.

I caught this one at the cinema after seeing a review in Empire and really enjoyed it. So much talent in the young actresses, as well as the writing credits for Nikki Reed. Most people i've spoken to about this think its one of your traditional 'teen flicks' but its really not, no sugar coating or any of that rubbish.

Watched it.....Loved it...need to buy it.....simple as that.
I borrowed it off a friend, the dvd, I really liked the song on the main menu.....am I alone there????

Totally agree, they should have got loads of awards for this, especially the acting, thats gotta be hard getting into those characters.
