If this does definitely go through, and from what i gather it's by no means certain, I would like to see Whedon writing the film and someone else directing.
Writing is where Whedon's talent really lies. He has directed some excellent television eps to be sure, but until we've seen Serenity we won't really know if he can nail the writing/directing combo on a feature film.
