WTF? This is getting a tad ridiculous. Seriously.
Brett Ratner directing X-Men 3
That's right folks, Matthew Vaughn has left the production of X-Men 3 for personal reasons, so the film, which is supposed to be shooting in 9 weeks, has no director.
Rumour is, they want someone who circled the film earlier, but was unavailable to take over, but who that is is unknown. I vote for Joss, but i dunno if he's finished Serenity.
EDIT:
That's right, Brett Ratner, who was attached to Superman for ages, is now taking over the train wreck that is X-Men 3. *yawn*
Not an appointment that really excites me about the possibilities.

And I heard recently that the casting decisions made during Vaughn's time in the big chair may now be thrown out of the window, which may mean no Vinnie Jones as Juggie, or worse - no Kelsey Grammar as Beast!
Nooooo!!
Nooooo!!
Well, the Rush Hour films were cool, and Red Dragon wasn't too bad either, I suppose.
Hmmm... Superman Lives (as it was called at the time) - a film with no clear director, no confirmed lead, no clear script, or clear anything, until the nearly set-in-stone X3's director jumps ship.
And now Supes is progressing nicely, whilst X3 looks set to flounder in the Savage Land that is Development Hell (Sorry, couldn't resist! *awaits well-earned slap for being a sad little nerd* ) - there's going to be at least one more big problem, mark my words!
EDIT: Hopefully, they'll keep the casting changes made while Vaughn was involved, because I think Kelsey Grammar as Beast is just inspired...

Hmm... everyone seems to forget that Beast is, in fact, about thirty...
Not that it really matters, and I expect Beast may be mostly computer generated anyway. Kelsey Grammer is a bit of an obvious choice, but probably a good one.
Vinnie Jones I'm not too sure about, but makes a sort of sense given Xavier is english in the films. Although I'd rather just not have Juggernaut in it at all.
But, as had been said, these casting decisions may be out of the window anyway.

Well, failing Kelsey Grammar, there's always David Hyde Pierce... *checks IMDb* - holy crap! He's 46; a few months older than my Dad!
Or that Wolverine is only 5'3" tall!!!

Or that Jean Grey is actually supposed to be incredibly attractive!!!
Or that Cyc is supposed be a tw... oh wait a minute
I think we have to go for a lot or artistic licence in all the characters, Kelsey has the right voice for the character given the cartoon shows and such, so I can't actually think of anyone better! But yes, definately the obvious choice, but sometimes obvious is obvious for the right reasons

Yeah, but everyone commented on the fact that Hugh Jackman was too tall for Wolverine. No-one I've spoken too seemed to notice that Kelsey Grammar was too old for the comic-book Beast. But as I said, it doesn't matter; I'd rather they did something that worked in the context of a film than slavishly followed 40 years of inconsistent continuity.

Famke Janssen does it for me.

Yeah well, all niggly little points considered (Wolvie being short, Pyro being Australian, etc.), I think it's all worked out pretty well; IMHO, Hugh Jackman makes a pretty good Ol' Canucklehead, as well as Famke Janssen being a pretty nice choice for Jean Grey - but neither of them a patch on Ian McKellen's Magneto ("You homo sapiens and your guns!''). All in all, I thought the casting was pretty much spot on.
BAMF! Alan Cumming teleports out of X3
Goddamit! One of the best characters and actors in the second movie by far and Fox give him the boot - what the hell were they thinking? Were they thinking at all?
Now I shall go and vent my frustrations somewhere where my language won't trigger a wave of Sentinels...
