Snakes On A Plane
So - Snakes On A Plane - who else can't wait to see if it's as rubbish as it sounds?
For those who have no idea what I'm talking about, SoaP is the latest starring role for super-cool, gun-toting, kilt-wearing jedi-god Samuel L Jackson. Jackson is alleged to have recieved the original script under it's working title and accepted the part on the condition that they kept the title.
The story is basic: Protected witness on a plane. Assassin attempts to off him with venomous snakes released from the hold.
The premise is lame, the title is hokey and the thing is causing fannish gigglebounces all over the internet.
By the way - I have the t-shirt.

I heard of this recently, and I can't wait!
As I understand it, it was meant to be some sort of daft survival movie until they got Samuel L. Jackson on board, then it got interesting - they're basically trying to make it as crazy and OTT as possible, and it sounds hilarious. (Apparently, 'Snakes on a Plane' was just the working title at first - the official name was something like 'Flight 121' until Jackson insisted they stick with the cooler working title.) The basic plot (again, as I understand it) is that a bunch of people on a plane fight for survival after a crateful of deadly snakes is released on board and start trying to kill off the passengers.
Meanwhile, here's a link to a Snakes on a Plane RPG (I kid ye not) that someone linked me to a week or two back. Daft indeed.

Posted: 09:48 Apr 09 2006 Close. It was "PACIFIC AIR ONE-TWENTY WHO GIVES A FLYING F*CK" but I don't really see TV Presenters across the globe using that one in full during Saturday morning kids TV

Anything with Samuel L. Jackson kicking ass and taking names is good with me, although i think it'll be a rental, not a cinema viewing

Well yesterday evening the commercials for the 18th of August release were still running so I guess it won't be moved. Also a bit ridiculous to move a movie for something that didn't actually happen.
The moment a large part of the population starts to think about "moving" movie releases for something that didn't actually take place at all, you kinda know we have gotten all overly politically correct. No planes blew up, no people died and the people they arrested aren't even formally charged with anything yet, so what they are actually accused of is still pretty much speculation based on intelligence.
I'm not saying that they didn't want to blow up a plane or planes but aslong as they failed there is no reason (IMHO) to get all overly protective about peoples feelings.
