Movie posters don't tend to be anything special these days. I still love Drew Struzan's work, and some modern posters, like The Phantom Menace with Anakin casting Vader's shadow was great, and some others have been good. Generally though, a lot of them seem very generic.

The new teaser poster for The Dark Knight however, is in my opinion, fantastic. A great example of informing character using abstract methods. I don't put posters up, but if i did, this would be one.
