Techie Help Please!
Hi folks, I was wondering if somebody could help me with a possible spyware problem...
There's a file on my system which I definitely don't remember downloading intentionally called 'WZCBDL Service' that comes up on Windows' Add/Remove Programs list. I don't know for the life of me what the hell it does and it point blank refuses to uninstall... Any explanations as to what it is, what it does and how to get rid of it if necessary would be greatly appreciated.
PS: Quick HijackThis v1.97.7 question: Why, when I set certain items to the ignore list, when I restart HJT, won't it remember what I told it to ignore?

Ta gobstopper, I've tried googling it like that too, but the search results were like yours: it just shows up on someone's HJT log, but no-one actually mentions it. At all. And the spyware sites I've checked don't seem to mention it. Do you know if it's definitely ad/spyware?
found this WZCBDL.exe also confirmed this on a couple of other sites.
part of a USb wireless router/modem
So it look's like it is legit.

*breathes sigh of relief*
Cheers folks, that actually makes sense; considering my 'net connection is on... *drum roll* a wireless network!
NB: If any T21 members reading this are students at Sunderland uni (or plan to be in the future), don't use the wireless access in the Halls. It's unbelieveably naff.

hey! Shush your complaining! At least they have Internet Access in the halls now unlike when I was studying there
Oops, forgot to say muchas gracias to gobstopper and Vinnie!
Oh, wait a sec, I just found out the service is actually pretty good... when you don't use the wireless USB equipment the uni recommends. Which means muchos yay-ness to Phoenix - Aeon for sound advice of the techie variety.
Oh, and Syd... I think you'll find (as I found out with every place of education I've ever been to) they always introduce the coolest stuff right after you leave. Every single time. Gits! On the other hand, the fire alarms have gotten worse. Much worse.
