In the good old days before the transformers went all 3d and animal like we had the real transformers, robots who could transform from a vehicle (being it a car / train / airplane etc) or some common appliance (never to the use of that as why would you want to transform into a huge taperecorder with tapes that turn into "birds". Not too long ago we had the commercial with the dancing car

But this wasn't the real thing (guy in a suit with some CGI?) but some eggheads in Japan actually made the real thing!

Now they just need to give it some AI and make it look a bit more like a "normal" modern car and increase the size a bit and we got the real thing So who knows next time when you see a big red truck + trailer pulling up behind you on the motorway it might just be him.
