Trouble with MSN

Hey I hope someone can help me here.

My MSN messenger hasn't been working for months. I keep getting an error message that it cant sign me in. The error code is : 80048820. It also says something about a firewall may be blocking it or my proxy settings. HELP!! I have turned my firewall off to no avail and I haven't a clue what it means about the proxy settings. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling it thousands of times to no avail. It is totally doing my brain in!!

My windows messenger works ok but i'd rather have my MSN messenger.

Can anyone help me? Any advice would be very much appreciated

However before you try the steps as described on this website I would suggest you uninstall your copy of msn messenger and install a brand new one from the microsoft msn download website

Hi thanks for the advice, I tried everything that the site told me to do but it still won't work. I can't even get into my hotmail e-mail account or the web page as I was going to try signing up for a new account.

Does anyone know if there is a problem with the hotmail site? It always ends up saying 'page cannot be displayed' I have also virus scanned my PC and there are no viruses. I am at my wits end I don';t have a clue what else I can do.

I tried to just download version 7.0 but I can't seem to find a download of it anywhere.

Please help!!!

I have tried that as well. I got my cousin to try signing into hotmail with my e mail address and password and she said it said something like I hadn't activated my acount so she did that and said it should work but I can't onto the hotmail home page to sign in and I still can't sign into MSN. I gues this means that it is my computer with the problem but I have tried everything that the sites tell you to do and NOTHING works.

I had thought about just downloading messenger 7.0 but I can't get a download of it anywhere. Can anyone give me a link for it?

Could you also not sign in using your username / password on the webmessenger?
