Should be an interesting enough E3...... although I can't remember them ever not to be interesting enough Let the pre release console wars commence. All the lovely rumors and prototypes reviews making their way onto Net, yes it'll be a good time for us geeks
Pre-E3 2006
For game geeks, Christmas comes in May and it's that time of year.
E3, the biggest games convention on the calender begins this week and the big guns, Microsoft, Sony and Nintendo will be fighting it out with exclusive games, news, videos and all sorts of announcements.
Sony will be bringing us further details on the Playstation 3, including loads more videos, screenshots and hopefully playable demos on the show floor. A redesigned controller may be in the offing. It's probably too early for a price, but we can hope. Although they'll be hitting the market a year behind Microsoft's Xbox 360, they actually have the least work to do as the PlayStation brand markets itself.
Microsoft, with the Xbox 360 already in the market and selling reasonably well needs to wow non-believers to drag favour away from Microsoft. They have a big range of 1st party games to show us, including Too Human, Gears of War, Mass Effect and the first details of the biggie, Halo 3.
They also have an added bonus for people who already own a 360 because Microsoft's show-floor demos will also be downloable on Xbox Live.
Nintendo will be showering e3 with Wii.
Ahem.
Yes, after the recent namechange for Nintendo's upcoming console, they'll be showing us they're games in an effort to convince us that it's not just a useless gimmick. The Nintendo DS, while gimmicky, has sold very well, and the Wii's remote control has amazing potential, so it's one to keep an eye on.
On that note, keep an eye on this forum for news from e3 when it filters out.
