Puzzle Quest to Xbox Live - At What Price?
It's been announced that Puzzle Quest, the hit game on PSP and DS that's been getting rave reviews in videogame magazines and websites alike, is coming to Xbox Live. Puzzle Quest takes the standard block-puzzle formuala of [/i]Bejewelled[/i] et al and melds it with RPG elements; leveling up your character, questing, skills and the like.
It's a hit game, so it's a big plus for Live. The big question is: What will it be priced at?
At retail, the DS and PSP versions cost around £25. That would be around 2500-3000 Microsoft points (I think... 2100 goes for £16.99 online, more if you buy direct from MS). At the moment, Live games are generally 800 points, although some have been as high as 1200 i think.
So will Puzzle Quest be the first retail price Xbox Live Arcade game? Microsoft could certainly justify it, because it's the same game you're getting on DS and PSP. I expect though, that we'll see a discount on it because a) great publicity for MS b) the developer doesn't have the same distribution costs.
My guess would be 1800-2000 MS points, or around £15. That's a tenner cheaper than getting your Quest on from the shop, and it will be HD and whatnot. Fair deal i'd say.
