Halo 3 has been declared a million copy selling game, almost 2 months before it is released, based on pre-orders alone. It's predecessors, Halo 2, had sold a million copies in pre-orders at launch too, but Halo 3 reaching the feat 2 months before launch means it could well shatter that record.

The franchise is Microsoft's biggest games earner by far and the release is a huge boon to Microsoft's game division, which took a big hit in the extended warranty fiasco. With release approaching (September 25th, mark it in your calendars!), promotions are starting to begin. Microsoft has made deals with everyone from Pepsi to Mountain Dew to Burger King, with lots of people in between.

Microsoft is declaring that Halo 3 is the first time a game release can really be compared to that of a hollywood blockbuster, and they're right, it's going to be huge.

Is one of those pre-orders ours? I haven't got one, i'll just pop into the shop and buy it, mainly because i'll be using a credit note towards it.
