From what I've read it also appears there is space after everyone who was already booked has been moved across, so if there's anyone who arranged their own accommodation or hadn't arranged anything yet then you might get in.

It's slightly cheaper at this hotel too...something like £15 less per night for a triple (Can't remember the other room rates)

The Paragon is in the same area of London as Chelsea Village but
gives us a larger venue for the event with:

(a) a main hall [ballroom] with a capacity of over 1000
(b) much better acoustics for both talks and parties and
(c) more rooms so everyone who has already booked with us should be
housed in the convention hotel.
(d) The room charges will also be cheaper than at the Chelsea Village.

The Paragon Hotel is close to Earl's Court at 47 Lillie Road SW6. [On
the corner of Lillie Road and Ongar Road.] Details can be checked out
at www.holidaycity.com/paragon-london.

The hotel is 2mins walk from West Brompton tube and train station
[District Line] (Im and I checked yesterday), 5mins from Earls Court
and one stop northbound from Fulham Broadway - the nearest station to
the Chelsea Village. It is also close to Brompton Cemetery, which
seems somehow appropriate. For those of you arriving early and
looking for something to do it is also closer to the Victoria &
Albert, Natural History and Imperial Science Museums and the shops in
Knightsbridge!

So what do you need to do?

If you have already sent in a hotel booking form, absolutely nothing.
We have capacity at the Paragon for everyone who has already booked a
room through us. Imogen and I are working hard to ensure that all
bookings we have are transferred smoothly. Transfers will be
confirmed both by email, or in writing, from Imogen (starting
tomorrow) and by letter from the hotel.

Please note: We have specifically asked the hotel to hold off sending
out confirmations until 11th May, as the intention is for us to get
the update out to all who have booked at Bad Girls (envelope stuffing
party on Friday night if anyone wants to help)! We have people who
are only in touch with us through the post and we want them to
receive our postal notification first before the letter from the
Paragon.

Everyone should receive confirmations from us and from the hotel by
17th May 2002. If you haven't heard by then please let us know!

As you will appreciate this is a major adminstrative task so Sector
14 asks that you please be patient. If you haven't received your new
confirmation by 17th May then, and only then, contact them.

They currently don't have any *more* triples though.

We are trying to see whether they can let us have some more and should

Piffle! My walk home is now nearly doubled (25 minutes instead of 15). Grr! I'm just grateful it's not out at Heathrow, which would be just a bit far to travel at 2am or so!

Might be worth checking Dan, although I would assume that if there is extra room priority would have already be given to those in the overflow first before putting a general shout out. Sounds like the new hotel is much better

Zepherine, I know that feeling .. I only received my original confirmation from the CVH and now I have to be patitent again

Reading the Sector14 Yahoo Group, it looks like those who booked hotels through Sector14, and that Sector14 booked into the Baileys and the other overflow hotel, have been moved into the new venue. If you booked your own hotel, there are some rooms going at the new hotel, contact Sector14 and they will do their best to get you in.

Yep RW I read it the same way ... everyone who booked hotels through sector14 is now all in the one hotel and I've had an email confirmation through already thanks to Imogen

If you have booked elsewhere and now want to be in the main hotel, try and see if you can cancel that booking elsewhere - most hotels allow you to cancel without charge up until the actual day of the booking. From our end, we can now fit everyone who wants to be there into the main hotel.
