yeah your right, me and my friends felt like complaining about the soft drinks but so much is bad with that place we might have been there all night complaining.
its getting way to crowded there now.i go for eps and socialising and its dificult to do bth now!
the prices are crazy too.if they put prices down they'd make money cos more people would buy drinks!
the airconditioning thing is sooo sneeky.
i've been to the bell book and candle and its agreat pub, with a cool look and nice food to boot. it would make a good venue for Nos nights.
i know pages is traditional for scifi but nos night does get a different crowd that are begining to notice the bad points more than the good points of pages bar.

Quite a few of us are drinking tap water only at Pages now as a silent protest. They are not allowed to charge for it and are legal obliged to supply it on request.

The popcorn was supplied by Pages Bar, I saw them topping the bowls up.

I never got any popcorn

But prices are so high I only had two drinks all night.

I seem to remember we had a rather long thread on the subject of Pages Bar before and Stuart done his best to try and keep everyone happy.

Yes - I agree bar prices are expensive, considering Len and I only drink soft drinks we do begrudge paying these prices and the noise level when the episodes are on are annoying but what can you do? Apart from constant "shhushing" (which would annoy people more?

Trying to find another suitable venue I believe is difficult and this has been covered before.

At the end of the day I go to Pages to see my friends, even if its briefly as I don't get out much now I have Georgia and as its only once a month I don't mind so much.

well ive been going to nos nights for a while now and speaking to anumber of people, they seems very put out with pages bar.

i have been told that the Bell Book and Candle near blackfriars will let out itself for free if numbers can be garaunteed. this venue has 2 floors with bars on each.

Organisers of nos, take notice of these concerns. i know conerns over pages has been voiced before, but it needs to be heard again as its getting silly there now, and too crowded!

I appreciate that everyone has their own issues with what is good and bad about Pages Bar and prices in London do tend to vary from pub to pub with the school disco apparently winning hands down on expensive drinks at the moment.

Firstly EyesOnly, I would like to welcome you to T21 and secondly I would like to mention that whilst some organisers of Nosferatu nights *do* visit T21 as members, T21 are not involved in anyway in organising this event we merely visit it. Therefore, if you want to propose new venues for the event you should propose your findings to Sector14 who arrange Nosferatu nights on their egroup at www.sector14group.com at that address people involved with the event are more likely to answer your queries.

From a personal point of view I understand the issues on the drinks in Pages and I guess it just depends what you drink and how much of it you drink, but when the event is once a month it does mount up fairly quickly along with travel etc. Also the Bell, Book and Candle does not have any parking that I am aware of (having only visited the venue once) and I do know a lot of people who drive directly to Pages Bar and can park outside the pub for free (from my point of view this is handy as not having to move about on trains and tubes for hours). Also, I would have assumed that the BB&C would already be busy on a Saturday night and you don't mention whether it has video showing equipment.

And just one final thing .. salted popcorn not my idea of fun - Pages staff seemed to be filling the pots up but there were only a handful of people consuming it

yep, prices do vary, but Pages has been getting worse by the month on costs AND quality of drinks (the main issue being watering down soft drinks)

thanks for the welcome, i was told this was a good board to find out views and is great for discussing stuff,well done on a great board! I understand that T21 isnt involved in Nos nights, i mearly wished to see what the oppinions of other nos goers were. I'm interested to see that 'vampire Tigger' who i believe is well in with the nos crew is on a silent protest over drinks prices. thanks for the information of sector 14 as i will contact them with my thoughts, but i do know stuart does come on this board so i wanted him to see others views tooI believe Stuart has visisted BB&C before, so he knows the lay out

When your a student or such drinking at such expensive prices is a great issue, even if your on soft drinks.especially when it gets ssoooo hot there.The BB&C is situated in the city district so parking shouldn't be much of a problem due to no companies being open on weekends.this is the same for pages, it being in Westminister. those who dont have cars, me included, will find that public transport is around the same distance to get to as Pages is. Again because of it being in the city area BB&c doesn't get as much patronage as it does during the week, and that is why i think its happy to hire out for free. i know other events have been held there at weekends.Because of it being free, possibly hiring equipment would be possible if they dont have a system. It was just a suggestion that i was told about myself.

tell me about it, maybe there'll be a popcorn fight next month, as there nearly was one this month! maybe that'll get the messege across to the owner as well as the tap water protest!!!

Yes this is a place to discuss opinions and we welcome them especially as we all have our own opinions , but your post seemed to indicate that we could influence the outcome of the discussion. This is why I suggested putting your points directly to sector14 who may or may not have already checked out your proposed venue.

So give us a clue then - as a Nos regular would we recognise you? Next time we can come and say hi

Not been on the boards much of late, what with starting a new job, so only just saw this thread.

Hadn't noticed the drinks price creeping up myself, because as VT said, I've been drinking water only (for the most part) at Pages for the last few months, my way of slowly taking back the extra money they charged us for the two early opening Nos Nights. But I know drink prices have been an ongoing concern, as has noise.

Things to be taken into consideration for a new venue:

1. the above concerns - if BB&C (which I have been to, but I can't remember the layout exactly - I take it you are LVG if you know I've been there) can sort these, that's in its favour.

2. accessability - I know BB&C is accessible for tube, but parking would be needed too.

3. equipment - one of the serious selling points for Pages is the tech equipment (even if they do occasionally decide to rewire or change it without telling us). Pages can play DVD, VCD, NTSC Tapes, etc, and has a proper mixing desk for going from one music track to another - not just a random player like many pubs.

But I will check out BB&C - email me the address and the name of the person there you've spoken to, and I'll try to get to it in the next week or so.
