Brings back memories of when I worked in London - certainly don't miss the trains now
I hate trains!
I hate trains, I hate trains, I hate trains, I hate trains, I hate trains, I hate trains, I hate trains. I HATE TRAINS
In case you hadn't realised, i don't like trains much. Have been late every day this week. had to take a day off (using up valuable holiday time) on monday coz they were stiking. it took me two hours to get home on friday coz they were stiking and i find out this moring that they are having three more stikes. I hate trains.

In general I don't mind trains-apart from the prices! £50 for a return from London to Swindon at peak times!
On the other hand a return to Bath is £7.
Easier to get to London by coach-£10! or by car
I quite like the tube apart from when it's really busy and you're stuck next to someones smelly armpit-not so fun.

First North Western are striking on the 22nd April, 29th April and 6th May. Don't know about any other companies though, they all seem to be at it at the moment.
Am I thinking of something else (highly possible!), or didn't some rail company start offering compensation if their trains were consistently late? Whatever happened to that?
So erm, is this a good time to mention that trains round the blackpool area are on strike?
Let's hope they get themselves back into order for the Blackpool Meet

Me too, I really hate them. Probably because I go to school early in the morning every day around London, then back again after school for an hours journey. I really can't complain as people have to come from Norwich to London every day.
And the worst is when I take my huge guitar on the train, because I always have to sit next to the fattest guy on the train *sigh*
Oooh, thanks for the warning FG, I'll have to look out for when the train strikes are etc

don't worry peeps - the Blackpool meet is safe. They are striking on the 22nd (the monday after) so if you were planning on staying on the Sunday night as well it might cause some problems, but otherwise....
Yey - we're going to Blackpool!!!!!

Thanks for the info Sydney Too bad trains are unreliable even when you don't have strikes going on
I used the train from Sittingbourne to London every day for 3 years back in the 90's when I worked in London. Late trains & cancelled trains were annoying but something that you just put up with.
I feel quite sorry for the drivers who are having to strike to get a reasonable pay increase when they are handing out 6 figure bonuses to the fat cat bosses.
It is extremely annoying when they strike & you need to use them on that day, it's just life I guess.
