Anyone got one this year? mine is the 1st June after Sppech Day in a Marquee on the school grounds (Queen Anne house in parkland) It's open to Year 11 onwards and and parents, staff and family and close friends. We don't get a prom so Year 11 (only 50 of us!) make the most of the Summer Ball. Tickets-£45.
I'm leaving in to go to college after my exams where there are summer balls.
I am looking forward to it. My friends are going and it starts with a champagne reception. I'm wearing a Shellie Segla eveining dress, Roberto Vianni evening shoes, gloves and a wrap/pashmina. I'll have to get a manicure and a facial, pedicure and eyebrow shape!
Proms/Balls at school/college/uni etc

I'm going to my college leavers ball on 31st may!! I have a really pretty red ball gown and new shoes!!! (I love shoes!! hehe!!) Me and seven other friends have hired a limo to take us to the event and we get a lovely meal followed by an evening of dancing and hobnobing with the rest of the leavers and tutors!! should be fun!!
Only one BIG problem, my really really close friend isn't going cause he doesn't like half the people at college and so doesn't want to spend the evening with them!! He is however going to hire a tuxedo and drive round all night with his mate I was on a real low on thursady and told him I didn't want to go either, so i'd be all dressed up with no where to go!! So he said we should hire a big tent and me and him will have our own leavers ball in his back garden!! hehe!! that sounded more fun but i've paid for my ticket now!!

Limo hire from home to school would have been *£150*.
My friend's school is having their prom at the Marriot Hotel. Which is an actual prom with Prom King and Queen etc.
As the ball is for 6th formers, parents, staff and alumni (plus any close friends and family) it's quite a posh affir with a 3 course meal and band.
If it had just been my year's prom things would have been very different!
The parental units are paying for the ticket and outfit but as I havea job I have to pay for my own beauty stuff!

I hated formals, with a firey passion. Back in my rebellious days they seemed very pretentious/shallow/false to me. I also used to feel very icky in formal wear.
These days I've gotten used to wearing suits/tux/etc. and feel actually very comfortable in them (although I still dislike going to these formal balls/galas/etc. Also I know that a lot of folks, especially the girlies love to dress up in the fine gowns and such and if this is your "thing" I hope you have a great time and I'm sure you'll look absolutely stunning in your designer evening wear

Well as I'm only staying at my school for another year, till the end of year 11 I won't get a prom or ball! Sixth Formers do but we don't. I got a gorgeous gown in Florida 2 yrs ago from Macy's & never had the chance to wear it! I need to go to a ball.
I missed out on having a Prom at school and couldn't afford to go to the uni balls. I always wanted to do the whole dress up thing and never made it. That's why I'm organising one
We had our annual spring ball last month. Lots of limbosens (spelling), alcohol and drunken people in elegant attire Oh the memories... hee hee Last year I went to three, mine and two different ones with my mates, so all in all, lots of hangovers I have my own tux, with long coat sides, so an chance get to wear it, I do
Ball are great, been to two this year. The best part is seeing all your mates in ball gowns and tuxidos, as appose to suits in school. Plus, the last one, a guy on the table behind us threw up all over the table with all the meals on it, but me being my doppy self, didn't notice, but did comment the table behind us had a interesting pattern on the cloths... and then it hit me
All in all balls have three stages.
1)fancy fun
2)drinking
3)hangovers

I get one next year (Year 11) Personally i don't like them, waste of time, prefer to be out at a gig moshing with my mates instead of having to be socialable with people who i don't get on with. Although, i have this wicked gothy dress that i'll prolly wear
