I'm not too bothered by them although I'm quite lucky amd have never had to have any major work done on my teeth. I'd prefer not to see one though.

Len on the other hand has a phobia of anyone clinical - dentists, doctors, hospitals, even chemists and avoids them like the plague if it can be helped. The one time he went to the hospital that I know of was when I was having Georgia and he knew it would be divorce if he didn't go.

Hate them with a passion... it's a childhood thing.. my dentist was a butcher...not the occupation.. he was just rough... and he bruised my sister so badly, she looked like she'd been in a fight... i only visit them for treatment if i have to absolutely necessary need to.. its the smell of the place and the whine of the drill that gives me a serious wiggins!

Hate them, although I have to go every 3 months because of problems with my gums

I love my dentist!!

a) I've never had anything nasty done to my teeth, not a filling or even needed a brace!! all he ever did was give them a bit of a prod with the pointy metal stick thing and then polished them up real nice for me!!
b) he's really cute!! hehe!!

so I think dentists are just a bit misunderstood!!

They're doing an important job - I need my teeth -

I've had fillings, extractions, de-scales, braces, and all my wisdom teeth out under a general anaesthetic (and looked like a hamster afterwards!) - but still - I go for my regular check ups.

I even went through a phase of wanting to be one when I was younger!

Well I was Dental Nurse for three years after I left college and am working as one again now for a short while. So I can't exactly say they bother me, but I've only ever had one filling and bleaching done.

Most people that come in don't want to be there and there's the cost as well aint exactly cheap is it?

Hate em. But I'm really good at hiding my emotions and being cool, I dunno why! I once had a gorge dentist, he was lovely but so mean and he didn't know what the hell he was doing!!

I love going to the dentist to such an extent my friends think I'm perverse I've only had a couple of fillings, but I had them bleached a couple of weeks ago and I'm having veneers put on my bottom ones on 28th May to straighten them up. I think teeth are really important (one of the first things I notice about people) so I like to keep mine looking nice

I think it all depends on the quality of dentist. I had the same one for years, and hated him with a vengeance. Then he got fired and I had to change. To my shock he was excellent! If I was ever at the dentist in the future I had no qualms whatsoever. So judging by my last one I say a

Personally I hate dentists. I've had a lot of gum problems and cracked teeth (occasionally cos of opening beer bottles with them but mostly 'cos I grind my teeth in my sleep ) I'll only go if I'm in severe pain, but I'm still more likely to OD on painkillers first

I had a butcher of a dentist when i was young and he used to let the anasetic wear off before going in!!!!!

As such every time the drill starts my body tenses up and the only thing touching the chair is my head and anckles.

having said that i really want those porcelaine veneers. Thankfully i dont have £5000 so it's not a problem i'll be facing any time soon

I so need to join a dentist, but i've managed to put this off for a year and that's not gonna change soon... my gums probably hate me

My orthadentist is nice-I like having my braces done! (plus a day off school! )

I don't mind doctors, nurses or hospitals too. Had 4 teeth out last year at hospital.

Well me teethys are feeling a lot better today , although my gums are all bruised and still sore

My dentist's loverly! He's really gentle and nice and puts you at ease and explains exactly what he's doing and why you need any treatmnet and what it will entail. Including how much it will cost before you commit yourself. (Plus he takes pride in his work so it's unlikely anything will go wrong or a filling will drop out two weeks after its been put in!)

The only thing i hate about the dentist is how much it bloomin' well costs My dentist has mid range prices but it still costs a fortune to have work done. Thing is i know his works good because he still does NHS work and they have to be regularly inspected if they do.

I agree ... My teeth were never great when I was younger as it seems all the medication I had to take before I was 10 meant that my teeth suffered But I had the same dentist for years and he was fine in that fillings didn't seem to bother me *too* much and he was always pleasant.

Then he went private and they drafted in a dentist who appeared to be a sadist as he suddenly decided it would be fun to refill 4 of my fillings as he thought they were too shallow (or some equally weak excuse) and since then one of them hasn't been right. Although now I have a new younger dentist who seems to be better and more courteous, in fact I need to book an appointment as I come to the conclusion I've broken some off this naff filling
