and i used to own the original "Hey Mickey" on vinal.

This is all counter acted however by an extensive Queen collection. Queen rule. they are the greatest rock group in history and so my reputation is therefor saved. Nuf said!

Well I bought Britney Spears' "Baby One More Time" as a single...but then I really do like the song!

The rest of her stuff is all pap. Oh, and its amusing to note that Britney is listed as a backing singer for Baby One More Time. So she didnt write it, and she didnt even do the lead vocals for it!

Jason Donovan, 'too many broken hearts' on vinyl does that count?? Thats all I'm going to say about that, I've said too much.

I have Jagged Little Pill by Alanis Morrissette & K by Kula Skaker that I'm embarressed to admit I own.


Not quite so embarresing, but surely a contender for the worst record ever made is an LP I have by a band called Lolita Storm. It's a mess of loud guitars, jungle beats & some girls who sound a bit like Shampoo shouting over the top of it.

The thing is, what goes around comes around. For years I was embarrassed to admit that the first single I ever bought was the archetypal 80s pop hit 'Since Yesterday' by Strawberry Switchblade, but when I finally owned up to it so many people confessed to wishing they had a copy of the song

I've stopped being ashamed of the music I have after that. (Of course it helps that most of my music collection is copied tapes, so I could always just tape over stuff.)

See, this is exactly the thing. I have a copy of the Alanis Morissette somewhere, and while I wouldn't say it was my favourite, it's certainly not an embarrassment to me.

I bought this on the basis of 'Hush' by them... sodds law it wasn't on there! And I can't be bothered getting the OST to IKWYDLS.

Breakdance 2- Electric Boogaloo
In my defence, I was 14 when I bought it and only listened to it once.
So if anyone wants to buy a mint copy (seeing as breakdancing is back *shudders*) I'm open to offers.

Can't think of any album/single i own that I'm ashamed of..Of the ones mentioned on here so far i own Alanis - Jagged Little Pill, Mel C - Northern Star, Steps - Buzz, Britney Spears - Baby one More Time and Whigfield - Whigfield(although it's a cassete). I also have some Jason Donavon on vinyl and 2 Kylie albums.

Most embarrassing thing I could find is probably 'Love Changes Everything' by Michael Ball on 7" vinyl although I'm pretty sure it was a pressie for my mum which has somehow found it's way into my record box..thats my excuse and I'm sticking to it

Why do you need to defend yourself? I won this album when it came out and I used to play it all the time - if I still had a record player that worked there's a lot of things I'd still be playing

Although reading through this thread is quite funny as people must have had a reason to buy most things in the first place - surely embarrassment or rubbish records are a matter of personal opinion or taste. My brother would disown me for most of these as he thinks I have no taste but I don't care

I used to have the Wombles/Smurfs/Pinky&Perky records and I'm happy to admit it - I was young - they were funny (I think my youngest brother has them now)

I'll happily admit to having a strange footie crushes when I was younger and ended up buying the Anfield Rap by the Liverpool club and Diamond Lights by Glenn & Chris.

Gift wise I ended up with a Hanson album and a Backstreet Boys album which I had phases playing but are probably gathering dust by now.

The only one I'm personally embarrassed about was buying a Boyzone cassette for the car which was a boring load of drivel - I think it made the bin as I haven't seen it for a while
