"Wake up Boo" - The Boo Radleys
Song of the Summer
I find every year I always have a song that gets me in a summery mood, and this year it is Satana - Smooth.
I love the video too
So I was wondering if anyone else had any summery songs, coz i'm travelling long distance in a few weeks time and I would like to put some good summery songs onto CD

Ah, summer songs...
I'd go with Teresa on 'Wake Up Boo', and with willow fantastico on Dodgy - and you can't really get summerier than 'Staying Out for the Summer'
Others that do it for me - lots of the Indigo Girls' stuff, especially the 'Swamp Ophelia' album, 'Common People', Edwyn Collins - 'Never Met a Girl Like You', Ash - 'Girl from Mars', just about anything by Talking Heads, 'Two Princes' by the Spin Doctors...
OK, has there actually *been* a summer since 1995?
/me slinks off feeling old...

Absolutely! 1994 and 1995 were the best years for summer songs! (Nothing to do with the fact that that was when I was a student and had loads of time to lounge about in the sun listening to music, honest!)

And I forgot one - 'Girls and Boys' by Blur
Ah, the summer of '94. The year I met the love of my life (not together now 'tho). What a great summer
*Joins in the general summer of 1994 reminiscence*
Who's up for Pop Years 1994, tonight at 8 on Sky One!?

One of my fave summery songs is "wake up boo" as well. and "walking on sunshine"
Back from Pop Years 1994 - had forgotten about Whigfield, PJ and Duncan and Shampoo! Also mysteriously blanked out Love Is All Around. But now it's back - yikes.
"Outside it's raining but inside it's wet" East 17, Steam

OMG Shampoo! I'd forgotten about them. What was their song again?
"Uh oh, we're in trouble, somethings come along and it's burst our bubble"

Shampoo ruled!
*ahem* Anyway. My personal current summer faves would have to be N*E*R*D - Rock Star and Papa Roach - She Loves Me Not. But then I have a very funked up idea of what summer is...
I would also like to make the following two points:
1. 'Wake Up Boo' is probably the second most misunderstood song in pop history, after Lou Reed's 'Perfect Day'. It is also absolutely scrummy.
2. Dodgy should be rounded up and tried for crimes against music. Or maybe just shot. No point wasting public time and money. And any of their offending material still in existance should be burnt and deleted.
I don't like Dodgy, BTW...

Absolutely so. "You can't blame me, for the death of summer.." Still, I guess what it means to people is as important as what Martin Carr meant when he wrote it.

I'm struggling to think of summer songs. Stuff I particularly remember from music festivals, really. Chemical Brothers' Leave Home. Most of Leftfields first album. Kenickie - I Would Fix You. Feelgood Hit of the Summer - Queens of the Stone Age. Beetlebum - Blur. I Love Lake Tahoe - A.
Definately This was the summer 'anthem' of me & my friends a few years ago & it still gets me in the 'Summer' mood every time I hear it

I loved summer 1995 too, I had a great time. The songs i remember loving then were Jinny - Keep Warm, Dana Dawson - 3 is Family, The Original - I Luv U Baby, Strike - U Sure Do and plenty of others.
Hell yeah! Ever since I first heard this song it's been one of my favouritest tracks ever .... EVER! It's just way cool!

I Love Lake Tahoe - A.
Other feel-good summery tracks: Million Suns - Ooberman, Miss Parker - Morgan, that New Radicals song that I don't know the name of (D'oh!), Kids in America - Bloodhound Gang, Summer of 69 - Bryan Adams and countless others that I can't think of right now!
Oh, and obviously, Summer of Love - Steps.
Boys of Summer - Don Henley - a ubiquitous summer anthem.
Moonie - Dove is my anthem for this year.
Toploader - Dancing in the moonlight - from a fantastic holiday a few years ago.
