damn i jsut wrote all this out and it went funny ok you are charged on ebay to put up items a very small fee for each item and you'll need a credit card in order to do this and to prove who you are. i was only charged 30p for sellnig my star wars figures coz i wanted £6 but the fees go up or down depending on the item. you can not get a lower price from anyone from what you ask for. if you want at least £6 no one can bid any lower so you won't lose out, but if it doesn't sell the fee charged for putting the item up will still be taken. hope that helps
Selling on Ebay?
I've been looking at selling some stuff on either Ebay or Yahoo auctions, but am a bit confused. Yes it happens easily
I notice ebay mentions something about a fee to them, but i cant find out how much it is and dont want to give them my details incase they take anything off without me knowing what as i'm trying to get money not loose it.
Also if i set a price on the auctions and no one reaches that specific price and i get a lower one, am i obligated to sell it to the 'highest bidder' even if i dont get the asking price i want?
Help i'm totally new to this and completely useless. All info greatly appreciated.

I notice ebay mentions something about a fee to them,
Fees are listed on the link above, ie if you want to start something at a cost of £10.00 and only get one bid - you'd pay 30p for the LISTING FEE plus 5.25% for a FINAL VALUE FEE (the cost the auction ENDS on) which on £10.00 is 52.5p
An example would be if you are selling the item to your highest bidder at £10.00 but "losing" a total of 83p (rounded up) therefore your "profit" is £ 9.17
Unless you set a reserve price you will be obligied to sell the item for whatever the highest bidder bids. In order to set a reserve price see "Table 3. Additional Reserve Price Auction Fee (fully refunded if item sells)" on that fee page.
Also if i set a price on the auctions and no one reaches that specific price and i get a lower one, am i obligated to sell it to the 'highest bidder' even if i dont get the asking price i want?
The fee page also advises how to pay your fees to ebay (ie with a credit card account etc etc)
Ebay do have free fee listing days every now and then - but by the time I notice I never get a chance to put things up.
On that note - I've never sold anything with ebay yet. I know that VG and Morph have though.
