Sooooo Romantic!!, Just to give you a comparison, when I got engaged to the pillock you see sat with me in my profile pic (gooner). We both had alot to drink, and he said 'so you wanna do it then, (I presumebly thought he meant something else and called him a sex-craved maniac, or similar) andhe then said no get married, with long engagement type thing. Your soooo lucky.

Congratulations to you both! And that is soooo romantic. But then again I think it's always romantic, when my beloved proposed we were walking through town in the rain, but I still remember it as one of the most wonderful moments of my life

Ray proposed to me five months after we met and he bought me a ring when were on holiday in Inverness with his family. It was a sapphire and diamond ring that cost £49.50 in the sale. My parents went mad and we had to wait til my 20th birthday the following April to make it official. And we've been together for fifteen years on Hannah's second birthday.

I don't wear my engagement ring as its a little small now though i still have it (obviously). On our first wedding anniversary Ray bought me a gorgeous amethyst and diamond ring as an eternity ring and when i turned 30 he bought me a gorgeous diamond ring which i wear alongside my wedding ring.

I've rambled again, but Kel and Graham, i'm thrilled to bits for the both of you **huggles**

Sounds familar, we were setting an engagement date, but I was upset one night and hubby surprised me by proposing whilst I was on the sofa. It took us another 5 years before we married though

How freaky is that!! My ring sounds the same and for ages hubby kept the receipt. My friends at the time said it was a cheap ring but it was the one *I* wanted and I loved it. I no longer wear mine as I prefer just to wear my wedding ring now as its prettier on its own. We both had celtic wedding rings and the vicar mentioned the love knots on them entwining and creating unity forever ... that was very true and very special to me

Thanks for the lovely comments everyone. As for a date, well it will be a couple of years off yet. I have no savings (at all), and will have to save up several grand in a few years...

Personally, I'd like the wedding itself to be quite serene, certainly nothing OTT, but I want the reception to be wild. We will hopefully be having our friends playing at the reception which should be awesome. Also, I plan to hire some studio quality Digital Video equipment to film it all with.

I think it will be 2004 or 2005 in all likely-hood so you've all a long time to wait.

Nothing wrong in waiting We had a very small church wedding followed by a reception in a school hall with much dancing and mayhem - it was great Then a honeymoon in Scarborough. I know that a wedding is only one day - but I never understand why the average cost for a wedding is so high! When my friend got married she spent £600 on her dress alone!!! There's a girl at the HQ I work for who currently has her mum trying to give way too many quirky ideas but she doesn't have the heart to tell her to butt out

Take your time - enjoy your engagement as that's a big step in itself Have lots of fun and then plan your wedding in small bits & pieces the way you want it though
