Random's thread has given me an idea My best friend had her first baby last week, and I thought that instead of buying them yet more Babygros I would see if I could register a domain name in the little one's name and set up a website for him.
But never having done this before, what do I need to do??

I got my 2 from http://www.bargainhost.co.uk who also host it too. Have been excellent for what I need. Fantastic idea for a gift too

Great idea I use www.freeparking.co.uk, which I ended up with after having trouble at www.uk2.net - I advise you avoid them like the plague.
It's £9.99 for two years for a .co.uk address and £29.95 for a .com. Of course, then you need webspace to host the site, but you can stick it on the free space from your ISP (or the parents' - that way you don't get landed with updating it for the next 18 years ) and set the domain name so that it redirects traffic to the free space (it's easier than it sounds).
Good luck - and thanks for solving my next present-for-relatives dilemma.
