In the world, there are some people who delight in being deliberately provocative in order to get a rise out of others. They do and say seemingly insensitive and outrageous things, and then sit back and watch. The more they succeed in getting an outraged reaction from people, the more they do it.

One way to deal with this is to ignore it. Don't react, don't get into arguments with the person, don't - this is a biggie - get into slanging matches and use insults. The more energy you waste on them, the more you're feeding them.
