Does anyone know of a good, reliable Free SMS provider over the internet as I am currently looking for one due to a project I am working on (I'm not selling anything, the texts will all be sent to people who gave their number to take part in the experiment). Any suggestions or useful comments would be much appreciated and would earn you my upmost gratitude and perhaps even a shiny nickel!

Vinnie Just because you don't beleive in something, doesn't mean it's not true.
ICQ lets you send SMS messages.
And I've seen some VB and JS code examples around that let you hook into that.
If thats any help.

I'll definately check out the ICQ thing thanks. As for the rest, I'll just pop out and buy the 'code for dummies' book and still have no idea as to what it refers. Thanks!

StooThere are two major products that come out of Berkeley: LSD and UNIX. We don't believe this to be a coincidence.
I think Lycos has a free sms thingy too?

It does 'cos I used it in L.A. to send texts home.

lizzieslayer Look for the girl with the broken smile.
Ask her if she wants to stay awhile
O2 give you 100 free a month. But thats never enough for me. Just aswell I have two mobiles, cos you gotta have a code to receive on your mobile. So I have two accounts. And I think breathe.com have free texts. Not sure tho as I had problems signing up.
RedWitch It's the so-called 'normal' guys that always let you down. Sickos never scare me. At least they're committed.
ICQ does, but doesn't seem very reliable: I sent one to my own mobile as a test and never got it.
Orange.net give you 30 free txts per month when you register and is very reliable - they've landed where they should every time I've used it.

Thank you all very much for your recommendations, I am indeed a student and will check out the NUS website as well as the orange one and all the others so helpfully suggested by such stalwarts of the message boards as you are. I'm afraid the shiny nickel was stolen from me by a Swedish man in a felt cap, so you'll have to make do with this and of course my upmost gratitude.
