One thing I've always found with doing rude things on the stage - it counts as culture, so parents tend not to mind! My parents have watched things that have made me blanch, but because it's culture it's all ok! Have fun with it all, and break a leg (but not a rib... Nicole Kidman can get away with it, but it doesn't half hurt!)

One thing about it though, it's really really rude!! I'm embarrased cause my parents want to come and see me in it!! I really don't want them to cause I've gotta say some awful stuff!!
Period Costume Farce!!
Anyone ever read or see the Libertine by Stephen Jefferys??
My Drama and Media Uni class are performing it next tuesday/wednesday night (anyone in the Hudderfield area, come along and see me!! hehe, I'm playing a Woman of the night, to put it nicley!!)

Rehearsals seem to be turning it into a farce, it's gonna be quite funny I hope, but it's set in the 17th Century so we've got great costumes. Four of us in charge of them went to the West Yorkshire Playhouse today and got them all!!
I've got a real boned corset, in fact i'm sat in it now, getting used to it, I've got a great figure now though!! hehe, I feel like looking down and saying "Oh, would you look at those!" I got a skirt too, with a big split up it and lace up the front boots, but they are mine!!
I can't breath though, it's so difficult to do stuff in this thing, I hope I don't crack a rib!!
Well hope I don't forget my lines and that it's alright on the night!!

I agree with Bee that it counts as culture - after all, you are only acting and not talking about stuff you actually do. My parents watched me on Sex Tips for Girls and that was really embarrassing. I'm sure it'll be nowhere near as bad as that!

I have a corset of my own that I splashed out on last year for no apparent reason. It gives me a great figure but I have hardly worn it as I can't think of an occasion where it would be suitable/practical. I can't eat in it, dance in it, drink in it... oh well. You must have had lots of practice at wearing yours!
Good luck with the show and let us see any photos you get of you in costume
I'm sure it'll be fine!
Like people have said, the arts tend to be treated differently by people. My parents think nothing of sitting through a film like Billy Elliot, even though a certain swearword is dropped every few seconds, and I know people who have been to see Mark Ravenhill's plays Mother Clap's Molly House and Shopping and *******, who are usually rather prim, but said they loved them!

Where did you get your corset from?? I'm after a proper one of my own, as this is the second time i've needed one for stage and not had one!! It's also really evil trying to find a hire one that fits right!! Most are made for people that are about a size 4!! Any help would be great!!

Thanks to eveyone for your encouragment!! We're on on tuesday, so fingers crossed!!
I got mine from a company called Rawhide Corsets. Each one is hand made to your own measurements, so they don't come cheap but look stunning. Mine is red silk satin with green lining and cost £180. I visited a show in London two years ago and tried one on. As soon as I saw my reflection, I had to place an order! I'll email you the details if you like.

Yes Please Lori!! I'd love a corset, I think I'm gonna ask my parents to get one for me for my birthday!! So the price is doesn't matter too much as it'll be a gift!! I can't wait!! I love my figure in this one I've got now!!
I wish!! We're not that professional yet!! hehe!! Nah, we're performing on the Stage in St Peter's building, it's a University one, don't know if you know it but that's where i'll be!! hehe!!
What reason can anyone have other than corsets are *fab*!!? I saw one the other day, in knickerbox, really gorgeous, yours for only £70, red velvet... mm... but don't know if I can justify it for one Moulin Rouge party... I can dream though! Yours sounds to-die-for... And the figure thing is a nice side effect
