I'm a Capricorn too but I don't think I match any of those characteristics...do I ??
How accurate is your zodiac sign?
I don't believe in it loads but I'm a Capricorn and a few things ring true:
"Capricorn people do sometimes find it hard to express the depth of their feelings which can be great indeed, indeed once opened up they can be very emotional. Because of this or least their need to protect any vulnerability they can feel, they can seem aloof, cool, detached and almost icy at times. But look beneath the tip of this iceberg and there can be a very warm heart."
Another unexpected quality in some Capricornians is an interest in the occult which persists in spite of their naturally skeptical turn of mind.
Practical and prudent
Ambitious and disciplined
Patient and careful
Humorous and reserved Pessimistic and fatalistic
Miserly and grudging
Over conventional and rigid

It's not that black/white, there are variations and differences due to the exact time/place of your birth. So unless you are born at the same time and place as someone, there will always be differences. This is why the Stars you see in the papers are always so ambiguous - they only take into account the basic sun sign, and not all the subtle differences due to say moon sign, and where various planets were at certain times..

Burning balls of gas in the sky deciding my fate and personality? Yeah right!
Whatever...
All these personality definitions are bland and meaningless, aimed to drag people in to feeling they belong to an idenitity. It's just rubbish.
Whatever...
However, there was a joke questionaire on emode a while back which told you what sign you should be. It said I should be Pisces...
But this is my United Sceptics of Whatever!!!
Erm, thought I'd try and jolly up a typical doubting Jayjay post, hope y'all liked it...

There has actually been scientific research that produced evidence that supports the results given with a properly done astrology chart. (This was published in the guardian I believe)
What you are on about is the usual broad-based tabloid astrology, which *is* very wishy-washy-and-could-apply-to-a-lot-of-people, but then a properly done astrology chart for everyone who reads that particular paper would result in a single paper that would need to be delivered via cargo ship..
This was also covered in tonight's Richard and Judy, in which Jonathan Cainer successfully produced an accurate personality profile for two sceptics given only the time and date of their births. His profiles were *not* a scattergun, broadly applying to anyone, but very exact and to the point.
There is more and more evidence growing for the accuracy of this sort of thing, so, you never know, you could end up being a believer down the line

Unlikely Stoo, I'm not a believer in anything. Just a straight down the line Empiricist.
Anyone who knows me should know I have respect for other people's beliefs. Goodness knows I've had more than my fair share over the years. And I am aware of the difference between serious astrology and that hocum that appears in the daily bog rolls.
Now, if people want to believe in Astology, then fair play to them. Each to their own. But like I said I don't do belief. I want to see proven causal links. Hard data that has been thoroughly examined. I know of no physics model that can explain how the position of satellites and burning balls of gas can affect a persons personality or events in their life. Without that astrology will always remain someone else's concern for me.

I'd like to see that research paper, preferrable after being published in a recognised scientific journal...
I'd love to have a 'proper' chart done to see how accurate it could be as in general I do match up to a lot of characteristics of a pisces female. Anyone know where to go to get something like this done (that won't cost a sodding fortune!)
I have a lot of the 'typical' traits if a Libran.
I'm still working on the split-personality
...no you're not
...yes I am

yeah i'm libran too, and althoguh i'm born on the cusp of scorpio, i'm very typically libran according to all the characteristics i've read...
indecisiveness being the most prominent, and also the whole balance thing, i'm *never* in arguments and tend to avoid them like the plague heh
just stay out the way...just not the type heh
this rings true with me as well heh, in fact only last night, i collected all my pictures together that i love and made a collage on my wall memories ehhh

Libra's temperament is also flavoured by a strong sentimental streak, finding it difficult to let go of the past and the memories of what once was. This is the reason that many Librans collect all forms of memorabilia.

Astrology in nonsense, I can think of no possible foundation in reason that it may have.
Unfortunately for astrology, unlike many mystical divinatory techniques (eg tarot), it damns itself by it's grounding in formalism, it's couching of itself in pseudo-scientific concepts (eg the rigorous analysis of ephemerides) and accepted standards on what elements of the horoscope mean.
This means that through it's (fallacious) presentation as a structured and scientific discipline it renders itself vulnerable to scientific (esp. statistical) analysis, and loses the mystical & subcounciousness defences that protect other magical concepts from formal analysis.
As for the "scientific" paper that has been mentioned, I'd love to see a copy of this, I'm sure it's hilarious.

I'm an aries, though I have no idea what that means. I think it is a ram
Isn't a ram that thing on front of 4x4's or is that a bull bar

Although I take no notice of daily horoscopes, my zodiac sign is very accurate. Cancerians are home-loving, sentimental, good with money and very moody! My ruling planet is the Moon and it does seem to affect my moods a lot: I get very irritable and restless at full moon (and no, I'm not a werewolf!)
I'm an Aries.. a fire sign, always impatient, bad tempered, bossy, likes to be first, yada yada and if you talk to my hubby, he'd probably tell you that i'm all of the above and more.. so i guess i do fit my sign.
Saying that, both Ray and Hannah are Pisces and are supposed to be romantic day dreamers seeing the world through rose tinted spectacles.... *bursts into hysterical laughter*
The subject interests me, but your day, or life or whatever these things are supposed to predict, is what you make of it

I'm a Libran & this is what I found:
Librans are emotionally impulsive and just love being in love. In fact they can get quite depressed if they feel unwanted. They're also known as 'Lazy Libran' because they don't like to make decisions. They're just happy to go with the flow. They're fantastically beautiful. People will do anything for them. They're affectionate and sympathetic and intensely interested in people. They're also the world's biggest spenders. All Librans are charming, sophisticated and diplomatic, but can be confusing for others. All have a strong sense of justice and fair play but most haven't the strength to take on a determinedly lame duck. They project an image that is attractive, chosen to represent their sense of status and refinement. Being inclined to experiment sexually, they are not the most faithful of partners and even goody-goody Librans are terrible flirts.
