A little tip, you have to remember to turn your lights on when it gets dark - its not very instinctive at first, because you can usually see the road fine!
first time driving *eek*
well after the passing of my driving test two weeks ago, yesterday we finally got a new car.im now insured to drive a sierra lx 1.6.its a big car compared to the fiesta i drove on my lessons.
today,i drove it for the first time, just taking it around the estate.it was exciting but also very nervy.well the good news is that i didnt hit anything so thats a good sign.stalled a few times but that was my dads fault,he told me that 1st was straight up on the gear stick and it wasnt,so i kept going into 3rd instead.grrrr but i got it right in the end.
has anybody got any good first time driving stories?

I remember the first few times of driving after passing my test I was terrified but you soon get used to it and you will be driving with confidence in no time
thanks for the tip about putting lights on,im going for my first night drive later, taking the boyfriend out.whats really funny is that i reverse better in this bigger car than i did the fiesta on my lessons.
Not driven in about 5 years -- not quite mad enough to drive when living in central London, now am 10 minute walk from work, so have had no need; except need to start driving halfway round the M25 a few times a month for work soon, so *really* need some refresher lessons -- maybe once the weather's nicer!
no stories yet of driving but i'm counting down until i can drive: only 10montsh eek! I'm not sure whether i'm excited or scared about that!

This is so true, I used to get people leaping out into the road waving at me all the time just after I passed. I kept thinking "what are these nutters doing?" & then it would dawn on me, Oh yeh, I've left my lights off again.
Doh
When I was learning, back in 98, my then boyf picked me up from work, slapped the L plates on the car and said I had to drive home.
I made it most of the way home, but was so stressed about it (mainly due to his scathing remarks) that I just lost the plot and went round the corner into my street way too fast and lost control. All I could see was a kid just coming out into the road just behind a park car and I just stopped in time to miss squashing him between our car and the parked car by a few inches.
I haven't driven since.
The worst thing is that the guy I was with, actually came out with the comment, 'oh it's ok you haven't damaged my car' when all I was thinking about was the fact that I've probably just traumatised a kid for life, let alobe my self
