Aberdeen 2 Saints 1 - report
By Graham Hiley at Pittodrie
Gordon Strachan started with his strongest available side showing three changes from the FA Cup final line-up.
Antti Niemi was ruled out by his torn calf muscle and with Paul Jones away on international duty, it meant a call-up for Northern Ireland Under 21 international Alan Blayney.
After his impressive display at the Millennium Stadium Chris Baird was left on the bench with Fabrice Fernandes restored to the starting line-up.
And Paul Williams came into the centre of defence to replace Claus Lundekvam who is away with Norway for Thursday's friendly against Finland.
Wayne Bridge and James Beattie both started ahead of their link-up with the England squad but both were expected to play only around half an hour or so.
First-year Scholar and Scottish under 17 international Stuart Anderson joined up with the squad at the ground and the promising central midfielder was on the bench.
Aberdeen included former Saints midfielder Paul Sheerin who has scored eight goals since joining them from Ayr for £50,000 in mid-January.
