Was I set up?
Ok so I had another date last night which I really didn't wanan go on anyway but in the end I decided I amy as well be nice and at least try and see what the girl was like. Thing is i didn't trust her anyway, she seemed very false maybe thats why I didn't wanan go on it. Anyway for the past week she kept gonig no at me to wear a suit, so thats why I thought it may be some sorta set up or joke she was gonna play on me. Anyway I jsut kept playing along, but I spoke on the phone with her a few times and she actually seemed genuine on the phone, especially yesterday evening before it, so I decided to check it out anyway but be careful, and it was on my way home from work anyway so I wasn't going too far outta my way. Anyway I phoned her and she was running a bit late so I got myself a couple of cheeseburgers from Macdonalds and sat and ate them outside Macdonalds and not by the place she said to meet her which was jsut round the corner. So as I was sitting eating these lovely burgers I hear this group of lads talknig and hear one say somethnig about 'I bet hes gonna turn up in a suit' and laughing and stuff. So they msut have been talknig about me surely and waiting for me, i finished my burgers and went home then. I know she also turnred up and she accused me of standing her up, but i'm positive it was a set up and for all I know they may have tried to beat me up or something. I do feel a bit guilty thoguh incase it wasn't a set up and I upset her, what do you guys think?

It certainly sounds like a setup, some people obviously have too much time on their hands

Did you wear a suit then? You could have walked past her otherwise, but minus the suit.

Nah, you missed out on a perfect put-down there.
You should have turned up, in your suit, brought her flowers, and if any of the blokes commented, simply have said something along the lines of..
"You mean you don't wear suits on a date, oh, no you're right, I suppose when I was just a boy I didn't either."

now i know one or two of us can be mean (no names) but we do it in jest and you know we dont mean any harm but even *I* say that was mean what they did.

Yes Spike I think it was either a setup or she had told somebody she was meeting you and they had decided to cause some trouble.
I think you did the right thing better to avoid trouble as it always come looking. Just explain the situation to her then the balls in her court and she may be more careful about telling all and sundry.

Or on the other hand...... they may have been talking about someone COMPLETELY different
If anything, you should have worn something you were comfortable in and turned up - just to give her the benefit of the doubt

I think Monster's on to something there. Although I haven't needed to date in an age, I think I'd be more impressed by a guy who's made an effort (although a suit in a cinema is probably a wasted one) in smartening himself up.
