The FA admitted yesterday that support for the England Football Team is dominated by a minority of young white racists.

It follows on from racist chanting at the recent home game against Turkey (fans sang 'I'd rather be a paki than a turk' and 'Die Die Muslim') and marks a change in attitude. Previously, the FA blamed such incidents on a wider social malaise but is now going to take steps to broaden support for the team and marginalise the racists.

The FA has also chosen not to take a ticket allocation for the away game against Turkey, the site of several previous altercations involving english supporters.

So I guess the question is this... do you think the FA can affect this problem?

Is racism an inevitable off shoot of the nationalism encouraged by international football and if so why doesn't Rugby have this problem?

Is International Football really relevant at all anymore? Conflict between club managers and the international set up has never been greater and frankly, the quality of a good club match (Man Utd v Real Madrid for example) is frequently higher than anything produced by an England Team.
