My dissertation is falling apart around me, lost track of the topic, doing a course thats not my feild, My current Masters is falling apart.

My department is confusing me. They told me to read a load of stuff on research methodolgy theory to decide how to do it. I came to the conclusion that as the theory conflicts depending on who wrote it. Then is about time someone threw all the theory out, and started considering research practice. Now they wont talk to me. All I did was come to a conclusion. It was just not one they liked.

Its really going to affect my getting onto a Masters I can do easily in september. Really wanted to do a history MA in september, the dissertation topic for that I have been working on for 10 years, but I can't seem to come up with something for my Library masters, and they want it all to be researched in a certain way.

I have been wanting to quit for months but its too late.

I thought I had got to grips with the course, even managed to write a semesters worth of work in three weeks. Not good for references either.
