Thank heavens for Liverpool players eh?

Without Steven Gerrard and Michael Owen (of course it was a penalty ), heaven only knows what would have happened to England last night.

The first half was classic England... poor in possession, no movement and harried off the ball by the opposition.

Fortunately Sven removed the hapless Danny Mills (new recipient for the patented Neville chant 'If you can play for England so can I'?) and rejigged the formation for the second half allowing Gerrard to dominate the centre and ultimately produce the killer pass for Owen's winning goal.

So... pluses? Minuses? Do England have a cat's chance in hell when they travel to Turkey?

Personally, having shown the appropriate ruthlessness regarding Heskey, I want to know when Sven will do the same to Scholes and show England's most consistently poor midfielder the International door. His passing is limited, his positional play has left England exposed time and again and since his apparent talent for getting important goals has evaporated, it's time to play someone else in the centre (Lampard, Cole, Butt (anyone but Phil Neville!) ).
