The Guardian did that??? NB - Last year she was publically blaming the distractions of fame for the delay.

Believing a bunch of wholly unsubstantiated, purient stories by the same sort of people who also took PCC-condemned long-lense pictures of her and her children. Tut tut, you must be slipping.
To paraphrase 24, you don't have the training for that kind of interrogation Michelle.
Taking body language and the overall tenor of the interview into account...
Have cake... must eat it.
And at the least, some major respect to her for laying into all the tacky Harry Potter merchandice.
Yes of course that is her right. However, rights and responsibilities have a tendency to go hand in hand. In any case, her delay is as valid as you want it to be, but losing interest as a consequence is equally valid. Based on the news this morning, I can't imagine that her bank balance is going to suffer much as a consequence.

They are her books and her characters... She would have been perfectly within her rights not to even write a fifth book... lets face it, she doesn't need the money anymore.
*bing-bong*
One very harrassed postie just delivered my copy.. looks like they're having a busy day

Got mine at 7.55am this morning after being awake since before 7am hoping not to miss the postie.
Read first two chapters... so far, so very good!
NB: I don't think this really needs to be said, but please, for those who haven't gotten their hands on the book just yet, or like me, are slowly working their way through it... NO SPOILERS TO BE PUBLISHED IN THIS THREAD!!!
Thank you

I went to get mine this morning, not as busy as I thought it would be, and anyone who hasn't got it yet, Woolworths is cheaper than WHSmith, so get it from Woolworths
I've read only a bit, and it seems to be good

There's a new HP book?
Personally I detest HP but each to their own and enjoy.
I *wasn't* going to but it, but I *had* recently finished everything I was currently reading, and it *was* dead cheap in Tescos, and the art on the non-cartoony version of the cover *is* very nice... *sigh*...
Although it's long it's very light & easy to read, so... when's the next one out?
EDIT:
And from the "other HP books" bit at the front...

I am *so* going to be the pretentious geek and buy that!
Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone also available in Latin and Welsh
Harrius Potter et Philosophi Lapis
(Edited by Callum 22/06/2003 01:58)
It's available in Welsh?? Oh my god!! Considering it's right next door, it's amazing how few things are translated into Welsh. I am actually tempted to read it in Welsh...

Fair enough, you could say my response has been coloured by the glut of purient rubbish in the press about Rowling over the past three years (including a long character-assassination in the Daily Mosley the other day, apparently). Absolutely zero public interest (as opposed to public obsession) justification in any of it, and the tone has frequently been very sexist and derisory, which all seems a tad unnessesary over what ammounts to a children's author taking her time (for whatever reason). At the end of the day, the books come when they come. (Loose pun intended, maybe.)
To paraphrase 24, you don't have the training for that kind of interrogation Michelle.
Incidentally, anyone else seen the "adult" cover-version? It looks disconcertingly like a snapshot from a Neuremburg rally!
welll i'm about 3 quarters through it and im enjoying it
as for the films, they almost made me completely detest harry potter....im still reluctant to express my liking for the books thanks to them! i can't actually put my finger on why either....
im much more of a massive lord of the rings geek
i wouldn't say i liked harry potter all that much, but it doesn't change the facts the books are readable

I got mine from Tesco at 12 midnight on saturdaymy sister read it in 6 hours and i only got to start reading today and im already on chapter 14
i just came across a bit i reckon was blatantly robbed from lord of the rings! the cheek!
im on like chapter 20 something, dunno really, but 631 pages down
ive been reading it every chance ive had to get some quiet! between stupid kids outside and people ringing me! hellloooo! i have reading to do

For me Harry Potter is like the Anti-Lord of the Rings. By that I mean that in the case of Harry Potter the books are fantastic and the films are not bad but really not great. Where as Lord of the Rings is the opposite.
I finished mine a couple of hours ago and my mother has started reading it (only the first 10 pages, but that's enough to declare it "hers" until she has finished and stop another family member getting there first )
I've not yet looked around T21, but after an interesting MSN convo with Stoo picking it apart and sharing opinions etc, I need a "SPOILER" thread to vent my spleen
