I just collected my copy today and its already in the suitcase - out of sight out of mind - then I can get my teeth into it on holiday.

Just going back to the delay in writing this book - I hadn't actually realised it was such a long time since the last one!

bought the book in ASDA when they were selling of the old stock cheap.

Just finished it at the weekend, and a bit dissappointed, nothing really happened. It felt more like a long prologue for the next book, which should be a lot better.

I must confess that I too had avoided the books (I've never been a reader at the best of times) and it was when I saw them cheap in my local Tesco I decided to give them a try.

I've now got them all, read the first 4 at least twice and I'm half-way through my second read of Order of the Phoenix.

Totally captivated and I can't wait to see how the films turn out!

The films are sooo not good

The castings for most people int he book are soo bad, and they have to cut so much. I'd like the films if i wasnt devoted to the books.

I was exactly the same way before I started reading them, dismissing them as kids' books -- but they are surprisingly addictive.

Unlike, say, Philip Pullman's His Dark Materials trilogy, which is utterly dire and not worth comparison with the HP books.

My brother has like the first 4 and I read them a couple of year a go, they're quite enjoyable, but I think they're kinda more childish than Harry Potter is. In my opinion anyway. I think it would be easier for an adult to enjoy Harry Potter than A Series of Unfortunate Events.
