Very sad news.
Rest In Peace marc vivien foe
As most of you who follow football will know i am neither a west ham, man city or lyon fan, but when a player of foe's class just collapses and dies during the middle of a game it touches every football fan, my condolences to all who knew him as a player, a person and a family man. Football will be a sadder place without him

Was slightly stunned to hear this last night.
28 years old and a professional athlete.
Sobering news.

I'd never heard of him but I don't think they should have printed all the photos of him lying on the pitch & then being taken off on a stretcher all over the newspapers today.
Was Absolutely stunned at this. He'll be missed class player
I tend to agree with you there. It's not the kind of thing you want to see while trying to eat your breakfast.

Terrible shock though.

Very rare something (metaphorically) knocks me for 6 but this did when I heard last night. Tragic news
On a related note, the French team's goal celebration was a nice touch since many of them knew Foe personally.

As so often happens in this country, there seems to be a lack of cultural awareness regarding how to process this news.
It seems very odd to me that Manchester City are retiring the shirt number 23 because Foe wore it during his loan spell with the club.

I totally agree, if his family did see our tabloids, then how must they have felt, I thought it totally disgusting and very disrespectful to his family and all that knew him.

I also would like to say how can a totally fit young man just drop dead like that, a big wake-up call for everyone I think. When your time is up, there is nothing you can do!
R.I.P
I was stunned to read this in the paper this morning. A bad loss, especially as already said to a tuned athlete.
Do you really think so? OK, stating the obvious, a heart attack must bloody hurt but at least he went doing something he loved. Like when Tommy Cooper died on stage. I'd rather go & be remembered that way, rather than falling 40ft off a balcony while high & drunk.

What an awful way to go.
Yeah I thought it is doing something he loved, but it killed him. He died from swealtering heat and exhaustion didn't he? That can't be a walk in the park. Poor bloke.
Technically speaking, if he had any sort of hidden heart condition, he could have easily have died having a jog in the park one day
And you're not alone.

The Press Complaints Commission believes this is likely to be the most complained about news item in its history.
Unfortunately, the PCC has all the power of a solar cell inside a lead box on the bottom of the ocean... at midnight.
Very sad, methinks.
And yep, I agree with the complaints regarding the tabloid photos; especially the Sun's, with the shot of Foe's eyes wide open and slightly gaping, kind of like an expression of shock. I found it a lttle disturbing...
