I agree with you entirely. At a personal level, the Foe thing bothered me because he's the same age I am and much fitter, but that's it.

In the same vein Incandenza, why should we be worrying about a footballer who unfortunately dropped dead in the middle of a game in very high temperatures?.
Well I dont know her from Adam, neither do you from the sounds of it, but for some people, they were fans of hers. That is why they should care.

give me one good reason why this deserves a moments thought?
She was a soap actress.
What does it matter that they died of AIDS? If I follow your logic, then X many people day a year. Big deal. It's a statistic. If you reduce human beings to numbers, then that's all they'll ever be. You dont grieve for Bob who you never knew down the road, but people grieve for famous people beacause in a way, they DO feel they knew those people, even if its through a character in a soap.
Last year 3.1 million people died of AIDS.
And you care about them because?
There are thousands of people waiting to be executed around the world.
Of course it is, but that is my point - famous people, become part of an extended family, they become part of YOUR life, and it hurts to lose them. You have no love lost for this girl, because she wasn't part of your life, that doesnt mean that applies to everyone else.
People die every day and to mourn each and every one is an impossible (and meaningless) exercise.
