Cat, I so wished I lived abroad. I heard this week that it had hit 53 degrees in Spain - has it been that hot where you are?

It's got up to 42 degrees here, inland though it has been in the 50's. Now it's averaging 35 here.

though i'm inland (30 mins) we still get some sea breases. Madrid would really be hell on Earth though

ive just found out that in New Orleans its 90% humidity, here has only been 36% so count your self lucky!
still dont like it but i know where id rather be.....

Just returned from my hollies in the Cotswolds and it was like living in a blast furnace, the heat was just incredible.. we were in Bourton on the Water on Sunday and i got sunburned shoulders for the first time since i was a kid (this is with Factor 35 sunblock) and we were in Oxford on Wednesday and it was even hotter!. I even have a slight sun tan (me, who reflects the sun as a rule i'm so pale) but i am enjoying it and the kids are as brown as berries despite being smothered in said Factor 35 sunblock.

I took my dog to the shops earlier for some fags and stuff and I was wondering; does anyone think that the pavement burns dogs' feet when it is this hot?

She didn't seem to mind but dogs can be remarkably stoic about these things.

Any ideas?

there was a crazy storm here at like 8am this morning, it was really nice....it should have cleared the air, but it still seems fairly humid!

I actually had a cold shower the other day (and not for the reasons some of you may think! )

It was great while I was having it. But after about 2 minutes from stepping out I was all hot again and I was back at Square One

While it's been warm, we've had rain and thunder and overcast skies today though the sun made a brief appearance later this afternoon.

We live in England!
It's not supposed to be this hot!

It's just not natural!

We had thunder and lightning here around 4pm and it cleared the humidity out... for about 2 hours. Its back with a vengeance now and I'm looking forward to work tomorrow with its air con.

For those sweaty, hot people out there I invented a new game called "Have a cold shower then stand naked infront of a big fan." The rules and how to play are quite self explanatory.
The end result is quite pleasant (though not long lasting) and can result in a couple of 'things' to hang wet duffel coats on

we had about 5 spots of rain and that was it, still bloody hot

i was wearing factor 30 on saturday in brighton and i still look like a lobster!

Dogs loose heat 2 ways, through theit tongues (panting) and through their paws.

Dogs do feel heat, they dont like it. My doggie skips over the terrace (as do i when i venture out with out shoes on)

Most of the terrace is usuall shaded, but when it isnt (like areas she follows me to, i douse the area with water, that takes the heat away and doesnt burn the paws.

Also, dogs (in hot conditions) like ice cubes. i thought my dog was unique but she isnt. people have been telling me (since i've been telling them) how their dogs like to chew ice cubes too.

Easy riddle: what's hot, ever so slightly uncomfortable and is tempted to shout "[BLEEP], I'm melting!!!" out of a car window driving down the M6?

Answer: Me on the way back from Wales on the motorway for 6+ hours in the middle of a heat wave... nasty!

Well I now have a fan in the office - but to be honest its not helping much at all

At least when I'm home I can wonder around wearing looser clothing
