Few problems with computer

Ok so I had these 2 bloody viruses which complete buggered my computer. Anyway i've reinstalled everything now but a few problems i'm having. First up when I turn on the computer and it loads a message come ups basically saying that the 'gearbox first setup.ink' shortcut can't be found or something, make sure you have the disc is, something like that. But what is 'gearbox first setup.ink'?

Also another window keeps coming up from Norton saying it is unable to use the scan update to scan messenger files I recieve, how can it scan them?

'gearbox first setup.ink' is the extemely crappy NTL cable modem software that loads copious amounts of junk onto your computer. its actually 'gearbox first setup.lnk'

look in your startup group on the start menu (might be trying to run from the CD - leave it in after you reboot)else its in the registry.

As for Norton - have you got the right version of messenger as its picky as to what it will and won't use

Vinnie Just because you don't beleive in something, doesn't mean it's not true.

If you've had the Blaster (or a variant) make sure you get all the windows updates most important one is MS03-026, or you'll get it again.

We've just been running around scanning and patching all the machines across all our factories. Spent all day yesterday insolated from the outside world.
