i'm in a bit of fiddle at the moment i've paid for something through paypal and now ebay have taken the person and the items off till they can confirm he's kosha but the moneys been sent and paypal say there's no way to stop the transaction so i'm a "tad" bit peeved.
has anyone else had problems like this or have your deals always gone smoothly? or am i just an idiot?
(i already know the obvious answer to being an idiot i just dont wana be alone in this )

I've only used eBay twice. First time I used Paypal and it went through with no problem and I received what I bought fairly quickly. Second time I sent a cheque and, again, I had no probs. Althpigh, on the second occasion I received two or three emails from the vendor while the transaction was carried out so I was confident I was dealing with someone genuine. And they'd received numerous good reviews in the past so I wasn't worried.
I hope yuo end up paying less than I did for Avril

Looks like I'm gonna have to use them to get Linkin Park tickets as well
I always buy off ebay, but i've only had trouble once. Some guy selling buffy chase cards and after a month me and several other users had not got our cards although he had been online and was telling us all to get lost, so we all contacted one another and complained to ebay. Think they got rid of his account and i did eventually get the card off him too.
I have only got something from Ebay once and I paid by chq, and it was only for £2 anyway Bargain!
My mate tried to buy a Nokia phone from someone on E-Bay and got ripped off to the tune of £169. This was only 2 months ago. The guy badgered him for immediate payment and then didn't send the phone. When he got in touch with the guy he fobbed him off with excuses about his mate having forgot to post it and stuff like that. He's now had to contact the police and put a claim into the small claims court to try and get his cash back. He payed the money through Paypal but they don't give you your cash back if theres a problem.
I've bought stuff off ebay, but I always pay by cheque.
I don't really like Paypal anyway, so if there's not an option for cheque/postal order then I tend to give it a miss.
Only ever gotten cheap stuff (most was £15) anyway.

I`ve bought loads of stuff and only had 2 problems.First was from someone who had loads and loads of good feedback (over a 1000) and only a few bad comments.Unfortunately, although I paid for Recorded delivery i was totally fobbed off with a `made up` tracking number so i couldn`t trace it when it never arrived.they kept saying (for 2 months that they were looking into it!),by the time they stopped replying to my emails the feedback time had run out,so they got away with my money.i don`t think they ever sent it or they would have been able to give me the recorded delivery number, not one they made up.
other time was £300 worth of computer that didn`t work,i finally fixed it last week (6 months after getting it).works great now,but for 6 months i had a worthless computer that no one could figure out the problem with.i wasted days trying to fix it.
so if it so thing expensive you want and can`t afford to lose the money, you have to take the risk or not buy.unless you`re prepared for small claims court if it all goes worng.i don`t buy expensive stuff there anymore,as the computer problem scared me off.

I had my first experience of Ebay yesterday. Bought a bag & some socks (for me & bipolar) and I've just bought another bag tonight. Waiting for the bidding to end on the 3rd bag..........
Never had a problem until last week, and I've bought maybe 20 things (I can't remember!)
Two seperate sales went awry: one telephone headset came and was damaged when I got it -- but I only *think* it was damaged, I could have done it myself, and it was only a fiver so I'm not pressing the matter.
The other was for even less money: I bought two CD items off the same guy who charged me £2.60 for postage, yet sent the two items in an cheap unpadded envelope with a 30p stamp on -- so what did he do with the other £2.30? When I confronted him I got an email back with the f-word in it about the extra money, and reading his review he's done the same thing to many many other people... But when I said I could report him to eBay he apologised, said he'd been drunk and refunded the extra cash via Paypal.
The other 20-odd transactions over the last three years have been perfect. And I do use Paypal cos I really really hate cheques (if the money is in my account it gets spent!)
Though eBay is now so commercial it's lost its original charm. Even the company I am working for now have sold on eBay (in fact that's part of my remit: to formulate/write an automated eBay marketing scheme for them). I've come across those traders who ask to "verify" you before you can start bidding. I didn't persue that course.
And the other other thing about eBay is the last-second bidding. There is software which will sit until a few seconds before the end of sale and just post direct to the DB until you are the winner/reach you rlimit, and they can do it a lot faster than a web browser and your fingers can. Proxy bidding (you bid, only to be "outbid" immediately) and last-second bidding really annoy me, but they are inevitable and unavoidable.

Personally I'm yet to have a problem with and ebay auction, however I have friends who have had thousands of poundsworth of troubles, including one Federal case that actually got the FBI involved.
There's no way of being 100% safe apart from not buying from it.
I've mainly used Ebay to acquire rare books and figures and the odd guitar (now there's a surprise).
There's not much you can do unless you want to go to small claims court. (not really worth the hassle) I've heard that Ebay get very co-operative when the issue gets legal and will turn over all sorts of info, but that's only of any use if you know a free solicitor
I always contact the seller before I bid, then throughout the auction, and also I'll quite often contact one of the folks who left the seller some feedback and ask them how previous auctions with that seller went.
However I've also know guys I'd have considered trustworthy friends doa runner with someone else's money in an auction, just going to show that you can't trust anyone these days
Don't feel bad hun, there's nothing anyone can do to stop a bad ebay deal, and it's only worth chasing up one that goes sour if you've plenty of time on your hands.
If you do want to chase the seller up gimme a bell and I'll ask a friend of mine who does a lot of ebay stuff for his advice on seeking reparation.
