I'm very surprised. All the primary schools around here have swimming on the curriculum. I know cos I get lumbered with buying the bloody stupid rubber hats every term cos they lose them..

im glad if its changed now.....swimming can save a person's life. im always so saddened when i hear a story of a child thats drowned in water that most people would use to paddle in, cos they couldnt swim.

That's why i want my kids to know how to swim. I don't think it'll be Joel, he's a bit like me in the respect he doesn't like to get his face wet. Hannah will be like her dad, i can see her swimming like a fish in next to no time.

For safety's sake i'd like to see swimming on the school's curriculum, and also from the aspect that it's exercise!.

Joel will start swimming next term as the kids in his year/and special groups are on a rota and it's their (special groups) turn next term.

Have you not realised that Britian is an Island and is totally surrounded by water on all four sides not just two like the Netherlands.

What he meant offcource, was that 75% of the netherlands would be water if we didn't have dikes and dunes...

i can swim
i swam for liverpool in galas and competitions don't ya know...(ok, the under 11's but hey! i still did!)
i also did lifesaving classes and sponsored swims and all sorts of stuff.....i likes water me.
haven't gone recently tho...cept for my holiday in summer but that wasn't strenuous swimming or anything, more pratting about in the pool.....
i don't like wearing a swimming costume/bikini in a country where i might see someone i know!!
