I don't really see this as being considerate though. If you ask smokers why they don't smoke in cinemas, trains, buses etc. then I doubt many of them will tell you it's out of consideration for others. The vast majority will say it's because they're not allowed to, and they probably would smoke if it was allowed.

I think that the majority of smokers are considerate, after all we are the ones (bar the very rare few) that don't smoke in a non smoking area, dont smoke on planes, buses, trains, tubes and cinemas, what we do do is smoke in places we are allowed to
Just to set the record straight out of consideration if I go for a meal with non smokers I will always sit in the non smoking section, if I am driving my car with non smokers I dont smoke, if I go to a none smokers house and they dont mind me smoking I wont smoke in their houses, maybe in those examples consideration was the wrong word, maybe it should be that smokers accept that there are places that we can't smoke we are not calling for smoking to be allowed in all places unlike non smokers calling for it to be banned in all places.

I think consideration only comes into it when you have a choice. If you're somewhere where you're allowed to smoke but don't because you know it will have a negative effect on the people around you then yes, that's considerate. Not smoking simply because you're not allowed to is a case of simply doing what you're told.

At the start of your trip you can set your phone to automatic pick up when it rings then you won't have to touch it at all.

"Of the drivers who were aware of the change in the law a further 16% told researchers they intended to invest in an ear-piece and wire device, not realising this will also be illegal if the phone is handled at any point."
When this happens to me I tut loudly and then cough all over them.

but it's just as bad when walking down the street and you get a face full of smoke from someone walking past you.
Some figures for you, smokers pay approx 9.5 billion in tax, if smoking was banned totaly the average worker in britain could look forward to paying an extra £3,703 tax a year, by all means ban smoking but someones gonna have to foot the bill.

Oh, on the the point of smoking, I think it should be totally banned everywhere. It's bad enough getting home after a night out and reeking of stale smoke, but it's just as bad when walking down the street and you get a face full of smoke from someone walking past you.
sod that for a bag of chips! it's bad enough how much we get conned for tax now as it is, the tax sitch makes me more angry then when i was a non-smoker and didnt like being in smokey atmospheres. at taxes.

Smoking related aliments cost the NHS approx 1.5 billion a year, so they save 1.5 billion and lose 9.5 billion.

And no one is talking about banning smoking altogether. I know some people think Tony Blair is a crackpot, but he's definately not that barmy!
As Ive said to many people smokers and drinkers more than pay for their hospital treatments.
